Summary

“Oh! Well, hello there!” Scar cooed, opening the gate and kneeling down beside Grian. “Aren’t you a nice little surprise?”
Stupidly, his first instinct was to try and explain himself in words. It’s me, it’s Grian, he tried to say. I was an idiot and pulled a lever in the ancient city’s lab and it turned me into a cat.
None of that came out of his mouth. What he said instead was something like meow meow meow meow meow, which was a cry for help if he’d ever heard one, but Scar only chuckled.
“You’re just an angry little guy.” He picked Grian up before he had time to object and held him up to his face, which was just about the most humiliating thing he’d ever experienced. “You’re the cutest, fluffiest little angry guy ever, aren’t you?”
Nevermind, that was worse. Grian was never coming back from that one.

Summary
The first person to notice someone missing was Mumbo. Eight of the Hermits disappear from the face of the server for eight weeks, and all return differently than how they left. But, the eight decide that they never want to speak of their time away, and Mumbo just has to deal with the fact that he'll never know what happened to them.

“Thank you so much,” Jimmy tells her, pouring every ounce of sincerity into his words—and he truly does mean it. Pearl is risking possibly her only friend just to honor her deal with Jimmy. And maybe that should make him feel worse, because at the end of the day, it’s pity fueling the kind words and actions given to the Ranchers—but Jimmy looks at Pearl and sees nothing but guilt in her exhausted expression. No matter what Scott might say about her, Pearl is a kind soul that just wants a friend and has received nothing but unfair scrutiny.
Jimmy throws her a bone, gives her a chance to take it all back. Maybe he isn’t as eager to get burned by his foolhardy trust as he thought he was. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah.” Pearl waves a flippant hand—all but throwing the metaphorical bone back in Jimmy’s face. “You have it. I can’t just leave like that, that’s not me.”
Unbeknownst to Pearl, Jimmy decides right then and there that Pearl is Team Rancher’s best friend.

grian quickly responded out of habit. “yeah, well, you know. only until my first death.”
scar didn’t respond immediately, and an awkward tension grew. “i…i hate to be a bearer of bad news for you, but—”
grian’s breath caught as he recalled the events of the previous day. “oh. right.”
