“You know, strangely enough, I don't think this is part of the Tournament,” Alec comments idly.
“What makes you say that?” Harry asks dryly, glaring down at the ropes that are binding him to the tombstone.
By the time the Third Task rolls around, Harry and Alec are done. Frankly, they're been done for years now. Between the World's worship of Alec as the Boy-Who-Lived, the abandonment of Harry for the same reason, their parents following the pattern and the sheer hypocrisy of the Wizarding World, the two fourteen year olds are jaded and sarcastic as hell. Add to that that Harry is actually the Boy-Who-Lived, but no one knows because of said hypocrisy, they aren't the happiest boys alive. And now they have now been kidnapped to resurrect Voldemort. Yeah, they have had it. Funny how the last straw turns out to be the best thing that has happened to them in a long time.

When Loki takes over the Hammer Industries building where Tony works, he doesn't panic. He doesn't fear for his life. Honestly, he has more faith in Loki than he does in all of the Avengers combined. (Really, they let Hammer on the team. They can't be that smart.) He just grabs some thing to play with and goes with the flow. And then breaks out of the flow. Because he can. And when he runs into the god himself, well, what makes more sense than to offer his assistance? (He really, really hates Hammer, you know.)

Loki feels the eyes watching him as he walks down the street. He ignores them. He has been feeling them ever since he has been dating Tony. He is, if not use to them by now, use to expecting them. Tony of course is oblivious to the protectiveness of his employees. It is reassuring in a way, that he has so many people looking after him. (Wearing in another, but he will never burden Tony with that knowledge. What else did he expect? Of course they are watching the monster, swords at the ready That's what you do to monsters. You slay them.)

Thor is not stupid. He knows that is the general assumption, but he isn't. (Alright, so he's a little stupid, but that's neither here nor there.) He sees far more than people realize. Lately, he's seeing one thing in particular - Stark and just how much he reminds Thor of Loki. It is like looking at a distorted reflection. He sees and he acts. He will not let Stark walk down the same road Loki did. If he cannot save his brother, then maybe he can save his shield brother instead. Funny how this decision changes everything.
