Summary
Steve Harrington is a background character in Eddie’s life, one who he only knows because it’s a small town and everyone knows everyone. Everyone has some distant connection, some oddly personal anecdote about everyone else in town.
Eddie’s connection is that he’s been slowly falling in love with the guy for years before ever getting to know the real him. When he does, it only makes it worse.

Summary
Robin left her stuff lying around all the time, Steve was used to carrying it around for her. He didn't think any of it would make someone think Steve was gay. And he definitely didn't think pretending to be gay for 10 seconds so he wouldn't have to out Robin as the real gay owner of a bunch of gay books would end with a whole sexuality crisis. This was Robin's fault though, so best to make her deal with it.

Summary
Steve has had a lot of relationship traditions over the years: weekly trips to the drive-in, post-basketball game diner dates, family dinners. His and Eddie’s weekly game night was probably his favorite of them all, even of the other ones that ended in sex.
Every Thursday, Eddie would set them up with a make-believe scenario that Steve had to imagine his way through with the help of different dice. One to make attacks, others to establish how much "damage" they took. Steve barely followed the rules, but he could follow Eddie’s instructions, because at least once the dice were rolled they could start manhandling each other.
- (or: Steve and Eddie play D&D in the bedroom (but by bedroom they mean living room, and by play D&D they mean have sex while doing math)

Summary
Steve Harrington was an idiot, it was a fact. But as far as he was concerned, the most important thing for anyone to know was what they didn’t know. He had approximate knowledge of many things, and he was fine with that. He knew just enough, it turned out, to drive people who knew a lot about those things crazy. Apparently to arrogant nerds, the worst thing a known idiot could be was almost right.

Summary
After Steve disappeared into the gate, the rest of them wanted to go after him. Tried to go after him. The cops stopped them.
It was hours later that Eddie launched his rescue, alone this time, not willing to wait and hide longer while the others ditched the cops. Eddie wasn’t sure what he’d do if he didn’t find Steve, preferably directly on the other side of the gate, as if he hadn’t been dragged through kicking and screaming. Like he’d had nothing to do since then, with nothing bothering him all night, just tapping his feet telling Eddie he was late.
It’s the image he wants most to see in the world, and if he closed his eyes he could pretend it was real.
