Summary
Ursa felt sick.
She was now married to a man she neither loved nor knew, and dread curled her stomach to knots. The wedding itself had been…fine, as fine as such an occasion could be, with the best food and drink, excellent music and dancers. However, she constantly had been hyper-aware of her husband’s presence. Subconsciously, Ursa had tried to breathe more quietly and barely moved, hoping to make herself invisible to the tense man next to her. It had been obvious to her that her husband was displeased and now she feared him to take that anger out on her.
---
Ursa was taken by the Fire Lord to marry his second son, Prince Ozai, who had a reputation of possessing a violent temper and being a cruel man. It left her dreading the wedding night, but it didn't turn out the way she expected. It was much better.

Summary
The salty breeze caressed Ursa’s face as the ship steered towards Ember Island. She couldn't deny being a bit nervous. It was the first holiday she spent with Ozai, and while their relationship had improved these past months, she still wasn't 100% sure how to tread around him.
-
They decided to walk back on the beach. It was a warm night. Ozai’s lips twitched at the obvious agitation of his wife and he wondered when she would snap. When the Royal Family Estate was in sight, Ursa suddenly stopped, her hands on her hips. Ozai threw her a look over his shoulder.
“Since you seem to doubt my skills, I'll prove them.”, Ursa said and Ozai mockingly bowed before sitting down on a log.
“Please, dear wife, be my guest.”
---
Months after their wedding, Ozai and Ursa are sent on a two week holiday by a mutual friend. While at fist it is awkward and tense, a theater play begins to open a possibility for an improving relationship.Series

Summary
When Zuko was born into a family valuing power and control over anything else, he was deemed a nonbender and the Fire Lord wanted him gone. He was seen as a shame upon the royal family, but luckily, in this universe, Ozai cares enough not to discard him.
---
The 'Mature' rating is due to:
- physical abuse ("just" a slap in the face, though it also implies past child abuse Ozai has faced)
- both Ozai and Ursa being seen as breeding stallion and broodmare, simply there to make strong firebenders
- talks of infanticide, though it doesn't happen
- emotional distressSeries

Summary
In the royal gardens, there was a large tree with a turtleduck pond. Underneath that blooming tree sat the hunched, crying form of little Zuko. There was a reason he didn’t like his family’s visits to the royal palace: Fire Lord Azulon. It was no secret he was greatly displeased by Zuko’s apparent weakness in firebending and once again, he had been forced to perform in front of his grandfather. Surprisingly, this time it hadn’t been mother who had taken him into her arms afterwards, but father. Zuko had felt embarrassed and humiliated, especially when father had been harshly scolded about siring a weak firstborn when his wife was Avatar Roku’s granddaughter.
---
Fire Lord Azulon married his second son, Prince Ozai, to Ursa in hoped to have powerful heirs. When Zuko seems to lack the strength and ferocity of a firebender, Azulon is displeased and Zuko's self-esteem is fragile, even as a young child. Azula seems more like the result Azulon has hoped for and Zuko fears his place in the family, when his more powerful sister will start her bending. After another humiliation, it isn't Ursa who comfotrs Zuko. It's Ozai.

Summary
The smell of roasted meat and some sweet dish Azula didn’t know filled the air. There was laughter, the crackling of fire and the waves, which created a comfortable, liberating ambience.
The Gaang + Mai, Ty Lee and Azula were spending a warm evening together at the beach close to Nizero. Sokka was telling a story with Katara mocking him, not in the cruel, hurtful way Azula used to mock Zuko, but affectionately. The more Azula observed the group, the more of an outcast she felt. Even though Mai and Ty Lee haven’t been a part of the group for long, they seemed to effortlessly flow with the Gaang. Azula didn’t, instead, she struggled to keep up with the different emotions around her. Emotions, which had been - and in a sense still were - unfamiliar to her.
Perhaps that was why she sat slightly further apart and hardly engaged in the conversation.
----
Azula's childhood has left her with having a hard time socializing with people her age group. While she was accepted in the Gaang, along with Mai and Ty Lee, an evening spent together around the campfire showed her once again how far behind she was, despite trying to learn.Series
