Summary
Thousands of years ago Dragons came together to perform a huge and complex spell to give their descendants human form. This way their children and those that came later could hide in plain sight among humans. The sacrifice needed, were the mothers, there are no more female dragons. The remaining males can only achieve their dragon form by saving their soul mates.

A simple 10-31 (burglary) comes through on the police radio, and Detective Don Flack does what he does best: ignores orders and walks in anyway. The burglary is at his own apartment building, after all. How bad could it be? The answer, as it turns out, is very. What was supposed to be a quick situation control turns into something much worse when Flack realizes the whole thing was a setup, and he wasn't even the intended target.

Summary

Summary
Community college professor Mac Taylor hasn't lived at the Courtyards on Foster apartment complex very long, but he's quickly becoming unexpectedly invested in and concerned about the little group of high school students that roam around the grounds like it's their own little world. Aiden, Danny, Don, Jess, and Adam move around each other like a self-contained ecosystem, and Mac has never seen them in the company of adults.
Mac tries to mind his business, but he's already one emergency first-aid session deep when he sees them gathered around one of the boys at a picnic table, and then he can't remotely mind his business anymore. Because there's a huge bruise developing on Don's face, and Mac can't help where his brain goes immediately. Someone's hit him.
