Summary

Together, they watch the opening screen of the film. Well. Veneer is genuinely immersed in the film, eyes carefully scanning the laptop screen, while Ritz studies his features - the way his hair perfectly frames his face, his blue, glimmering eyes, the slight blush dusted on his cheeks, his sparkly eyeshadow, his bright lipstick, matching his hair.
Ritz, for pretty much the first time in his life, catches himself considering someone to be beautiful, in a completely different, inexplicable way. Not just beautiful. Something beyond that. There’s a sort of aspect Veneer has, the kind that makes Ritz feel like he wants to emotionally divulge every aspect about himself, to be raw, and real, simply because of how safe Veneer feels.
A kind of safety Orchid doesn’t give off. Orchid doesn’t even come close in regards to what emotions she wakes up in Ritz. Ritz has never felt this way around any friend. Is Veneer his friend?
