Summary
The world fell into chaos the moment Percy and his family stepped foot into the Georgia Aquarium. They were visiting the state for a week during spring break, a chance for a normal outing that included Annabeth. It was all ruined when people started tearing flesh from each other, seemingly rising from the dead.
Nothing could stop the monsters as he rushed to defend the innocent bystanders who were being eaten alive. Blow after blow didn't even affect them until he finally stabbed one through the head with his steel blade. Annabeth saw what he did and quickly fixed her aim to hit their head. More and more monsters fell, but more came, and they were very quickly overwhelmed. People screamed and ran for the doors, breaking the glass to get out. Sally and Paul ran towards them as they all quickly made their way down the block to their hotel for supplies.
They took the Prius and fled, hoping to make it to some sort of safe place, unaware of the dangers that lay ahead of them.

"What's stopping us from living?" She whispered—quiet, reverent—into the inky darkness of the Georgia night sky. The stars above looked like tiny pinpricks of light in the covering of a mason jar where gnats flew into, trapped in honey and vinegar. That's essentially what they both were now—gnats, flies, insects—outsiders in a world that once belonged to them.
"Walkers." Glenn deadpanned, a huff escaping his nose; not quite a laugh, not quite a sigh. "That and also, y'know, the fact we could die literally at any moment." The silence stretched on between them, neither of them bothering to look at the other just yet. Only the chirp of tree frogs, cicadas, and the distant grumbled moans of walkers echoed through the night.
"...Then how about we start living like we're about to die instead of playing this 'what if' bullshit. 'Cuz Lord knows I'd rather make a fool out of myself kissing you, even if it's just once...instead of wondering what could have been after a pack of walkers tears you apart, or some sadist with a gun decides to take you from me." Then, and only then, in the still, thick heat of the southern air...did something change, and for once, maybe...just maybe...it would change for the better.

"Don't let go!" he remembers the panic in Noah's voice and his tense grip on his arm, hell he thinks he has scratches from his nails but he's to scared to look and see. Too scared to look and see the red. He had let him go. He did that. He should have held the door better when he noticed Nicholas trying to slip through. He should have noticed what he was going to do. Hell he should've stopped Aiden sooner when he was shooting at that zombie. He shouldn't have let go. That was all Noah asked of him in that moment. Asking for Glenn to hold on to him and not let him end up like so many others of their group have. Like Dale, Hershel, Beth, and all the others they've lost.
Or, Glenn tells Maggie how Noah died and she helps him deal with his grief.
