Summary
Carl isn’t thrilled when Daryl and Michonne bring home a strange boy they’d found alone in a candy store, but then again, he’s not sure he remembers what happiness even feels like anymore. Not while his dad keeps trying to shape him into someone he’s not.
Is it even possible to be two things at once? A farmer and a survivor? A boy who kills other boys, and kisses them? He doesn’t know. He’s not even sure he wants to find out.
Turns out, the stray kid is as antisocial as Carl, with a sweet tooth to match, and after being taken care of by kind people in an unkind world, they’ll fall in love with each other and then, eventually, their mutual best friend, too.
Predominantly based on the TV series, with select elements from the comics. Later arcs include Dead City & The Ones Who Live (second to last chapter), with lore from the Daryl Dixon spinoff, Fear, Tales, and World Beyond where relevant.

Summary
The world is cruel, and a broken Maggie is a dangerous thing. Negan himself isn’t in the right headspace after having been locked up for years, only to be spared the mercy of death. By some twisted hand of fate, he’s wound up having to care for Maggie, the woman he took everything from. Both have lost everything they'd ever cared for. One struggles to live in search of a new purpose, whilst the other has no reason to live at all. Intertwined, only time will tell the fate of Negan Smith and Maggie Greene.

Without thinking, Maggie’s hand moves, fingers trembling as they find Negan’s wrist, instinctively seeking the steady beat beneath his skin. Her cold fingers press gently, tapping the rhythm of his pulse as her breathing catches and falters. Slowly, she forces herself to match his breath, to find calm in the slow, steady rise and fall. She doesn’t even realize it, but her body shifts, sinking into the couch, and Negan moves with her, his weight shifting so she doesn’t lose her grip.

The snow was coming down heavy. Rick’s windshield wipers seemed like they were getting tired.
He thought about how at this point, the roof of his house would be coated white. His mailbox, too. His front yard.
Rick thought about the spoon in his fridge, right next to the milk.
“Why… Carl, why…why is there a spoon in the fridge?” He’d held it up in front of him, and Carl ran forward, grabbed it from his hand, and said, “To snow! So it snows, and I don’t have to go to school.”
It had snowed. A lot, actually.
Carl would put a spoon in the fridge every time he wanted it to snow. It worked. Every time.

When Carl goes missing, Rick is forced to either stay searching for him through his job as sheriff and risk his son turning into a cold case or seek out help from other sources and risk his job. -

Negan sat by the fire, flipping through a book, looking as rugged as ever with salt-and-pepper hair, a thick beard, and an assortment of tattoos and rings adorning his fingers. He didn't seem surprised by her entrance, and the tension in the room crackled as she closed the door.
“_ Of all the damn people I had to get stuck with.”; Maggie muttered, her voice laced with frustration, as she paced around the room. Negan looked up from his book, his eyes locking onto hers, a smug grin tugging at the corners of his lips.
“_ What's eatin' you, Maggie ? You mad at me 'cause I stole your last candy bar ?”

Sitting on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, was little Judith. Her wide brown eyes were fixed on the colorful antics of the cartoon characters dancing across the screen. She giggled at their silly antics, her innocent laughter a brief respite from the heaviness that hung in the air. At five years old, Judith was a bright light in a world that had seen so much darkness.
