He felt the moment Markus tensed up when, presumably, he himself realized that they were sitting quite close to each other, that Connor had his hands on the sides of Markus’ face, that his thumb was very close to the corner of his mouth, and most damning of all, that Connor had hesitated just a second before.

He doesn't know what to do about it anymore either, or if he even knows how to live without it at this point. He's twenty-two and counting when that threat, that emotion, gets more intense like a headache around his skull and a red in his eyes.
He hasn't seen Dean in three years when that headache, that moment in time, explodes like a fever— like a pulse. Suddenly Dean is outside his door trying to find their wretched father and that, Ben realizes, is the focal point in all this pain. It's the start of something, he knows, just doesn't know what.
