Summary
Shane has spent six years being professionally brilliant and personally confused about why Ilya Rozanov is the first thing he thinks about at conferences.
Ilya has spent six years being professionally ruthless and privately certain that Shane Hollander is the only person in the field who actually understands what he's doing.
Neither of them has done anything about it. They have grants to protect, tenure cases to build, and an academic rivalry that the entire field has opinions about. They are colleagues. Adversaries. Co-authors, as of this year, which is already proving to be a problem.
Then there's Senegal. The manuscripts. The hotel room. The note Ilya left before Shane woke up, which was harder to interpret than any lost archives.
Revise and Resubmit. Because the first draft of everything is always wrong.
or
Slow burn. Rivals to lovers. Forced proximity. One note that says the wrong thing. A very long fallout. Academia is brutal and so is wanting someone you can't stop arguing with.

“It’s just for Google. You know when you look up at a restaurant or a shop and there's a rating and a list of reviews? It’s that.”
“People read those?”
“Yes! Lots of people do,” Shane defended, “I do,” he added, his voice rose in intonation.

A personal reflection on Samus Aran and why she remains one of the most compelling video game characters after thirty years. The review focuses on her quiet strength, isolation, resilience, and the atmosphere she brings to the Metroid series. It also touches on how newer games sometimes make her feel less mysterious, while arguing that her reserved nature is exactly what makes her memorable. A tribute to a character who has stayed with the author for decades.

Suzuha Hotokeishi's love for films brought him to buy the Tokyo projection hall, where fate led him to meet a mysterious Devil Hunter who shared his hobby. As time went by, they would find in each other a place in which to talk about cinema while they shaped their own voices.

Ooh alliteration! 😉
There’s been a LOT (a lot a lot a lot) of well-deserved criticism about the revival seasons but watching these episodes again for the first time since they aired, I thought I’d try and write some positive thoughts about each episode. Some entries will probably be quite short … 😂
I'm aiming to watch one episode a day so expect roughly daily updates. Mostly MSR focused as I already know I'm not going to find many positive things to say about the plots!

Summary
In this ongoing retrospective, I attempt to delve into the more-than-60-year history of the Doctor Who universe and make some (probably controversial) determinations about what works for me and what doesn't. I breakdown the series serial by serial, analyzing plot elements, characterizations, story arcs, and more! If you like fandom discourse and dream in TARDIS blue, this is probably the project for you.

Summary
In February of 2026, I got an anonymous review on one of my stories, possibly from a spambot known as ExecutiveCucumber. ExecutiveCucumber claimed to be looking out for me and holding my best interests at heart but instead deliberately attacked potential vulnerabilities in a very insidious, very toxic manner. I personally wasn't affected much by it, but this review might devastate an unprepared writer/creator.
In response, I wrote an analysis of the review breaking down each of the reviewer's talking points and explaining why these points are misleading, cruel and/or wrong, and then I wrote my own positive argument in favor of creating art.
The review was taken down by AO3 within a couple of days — another sign that it was probably from a spambot — so I'm copying and reposting my reply here for posterity.
