To the left of the garden is a cherry tree that blooms less than a week each year: a spattering of flowers over so quickly that if one didn’t glance at it often enough, they’d miss it entirely. It’s not magnolia, but Eli thinks its similar enough to be ironic.
Too pink, too harsh – yes.
But still, when the snow falls thick enough to dapple the young buds into frozen, premature deaths, its easy enough to confuse the two.
