The day he met his secondary animal was probably the closest he had ever gotten to death.
"A lion. I hate felines! You'll pay for this! Stupid fucking boy."
That day was also when Max lost all respect for his father, Jos.
"Better fucking hope you mate an alpha. Maybe then I'll forgive you. Until then..."
OR Max doesn't get the animal he hoped for, pays a heavy personal price and is shaped into everything he never wanted to be, but that doesn't really matter. Not when said animal's first words are: Mate. He's yours.

Surprisingly, those comments start to take a toll on Max's mental health. With Red Bull struggling and Ferrari thriving under the new regulations, will Max be able to handle his current situation?
Meanwhile, Ollie tries to face the consequences of cheating on Kim. The Italian seems to want nothing to do with Ollie, but is that really the truth? As an important race win reveals the many lies Ollie has told, will Kimi be able to face him again? Or will he bury his feelings? What about Gabi, who can't seem to let Ollie go?

The room was dim, the overhead lights off, only a small lamp glowing softly near the bed. Max stopped just inside the doorway.
The room smelt of bitter citrus peels, and the tang of salt. Max's nose crinkles at the scent of distress wafting off of the small figure on the bed.
Charles lay curled slightly on his side, knees drawn in, one arm tucked close to his chest. Too thin. Too still. There was a faint crease between his brows even in sleep, like his body didn’t know how to fully let go anymore. His hair looked limp, his eyes sunken. There were bruises visible on his skin, purple and yellow and green.
His other arm is curled protectively around his abdomen.

While the FIA asks questions and the media chases headlines, Charles Leclerc occupies a plastic chair in a hospital waiting room that he refuses to leave. He and Max were never supposed to be anything more than rivals who fell into bed together, but as the hours stretch into days and Max remains unconscious, Charles is forced to confront what he's been avoiding for a year: this stopped being casual a long time ago, and the only question left is whether Max will wake up to hear him admit it.
