Jason Todd was not avoiding his pack. He had taken one night to himself to fly solo, one night to remind the city the Red Hood wasn’t tame now that he ran with the Bats.
Which of course meant they had immediately gotten themselves into trouble, and on one of the few days Nightwing wasn’t haunting Gotham’s skyline and had actually gone back to patrolling his own city. Batman was off world as well, leaving Jason to pick up the mess.

Jason is trying to ignore his upcoming heat. His pack are not helping.

A monster lives in Jason’s basement. No one asked him if it should be allowed there—Bruce just disappeared for two weeks and then brought it home with him. Now there’s a creepy, golden-eyed undead assassin that exists in the corner of the Cave.
Bruce says this thing needs ‘healing’ and ‘deprogramming’, whatever that junk means. Jason thinks it needs to hit the road, and if the Talon acting like a real boy is what makes that happen, Jason’s willing to put the work in. It’s too bad Jason didn’t take his own big, stupid heart into account.

Jason had only successfully removed the front left tire before someone behind him cleared their throat. Loudly.
Jason froze.
He’s been around enough people (people who were sick with a cold and people who worked within Gotham's underbelly) to identify the connotation of a throat being cleared. Someone with a bad case of post nasal drip didn’t announce to the world that they had mucus in the back of their throat. Someone who just caught their tires being stolen off of a very nice, clean car would want their presence known.
Jason was thankful for this method of being caught red handed as opposed to being beaten and left for dead.
However, his heart began to race as Jason turned around in what felt like slow motion.

Jason knew firsthand how uncomfortable and itchy wings would get when dirt and oil built up for too long without care, and he didn’t want his mother to have to deal with that on top of everything else.
It wasn’t like using soap really changed anything, anyway. It wouldn’t matter whether her wings lacked the oil they needed to lay correctly or not, seeing as flight was forbidden. Still, general maintenance was always beneficial, especially if they had rats coming around. Rats carried mites, and mites just loved to burrow between neglected feathers.
Jason hated mites, and he was determined not to let his mother get them. He’d dealt with his fair share of mites, and they were always a bitch to get rid of — especially on his own. So why make Catherine do it herself when he could help her?
It wasn’t like she would do it on her own, even if he didn’t help her.
