Summary
Kiryu Kazuma was looking back at his life now that death seemingly loomed close. To those who knew him, he had been dead for years. He had no one, but so deep down wanted nothing more than to be with them again, so in a way it was almost relieving. It could finally end. He did not want to die but it would mean he didn't have to go on without them anymore, and could finally have an ending, a retirement if you will. It was complicated. Still, he went through a full range of emotions as he thought back on various memories. He didn't want to die no matter how low things had seemed or what hand life dealt him. So where did that leave him?
This is the in-between moments of Kiryu's life. Little bits, moments in time, memories in the wind that we didn't get to see yet mean everything to him... Or in some cases he'd rather forget.

1995. Kiryu's quiet life is about to be turned upside down. First, his fight buddy with benefits goes missing, and gruesome pictures of the mad dog being tortured and abused come weekly in the Shimano family mailbox. Then, a somewhat good cop and a newbie yakuza who looks like he should be wearing some kind of hat get involved. Throw in gallons of booze, twelve pounds of cocaine, piles on piles of trauma, three near-death experiences and a baby(?!) into the mix, and you get way more than what Kiryu bargained for when he first vowed to do anything he could to get Majima back. By the way, he's definitely not in love.
