Unlike Niki, Techno was not overjoyed at being made a Prefect. Sure, he was a good student, but he definitely wasn’t looking forward to having to deal with a bunch of obnoxious firsties.
Although, he considered, looking down the table, this year’s bunch didn’t look bad. There were about a dozen kids, some eagerly feasting on the food, others exchanging terrified glances with their peers.
“The food’s not poisonous,” Techno pointed out to a trio of kids. The blond one widened his eyes at him, looking frantically at his friends. One of the other kids had scruffy brown hair, and the other had some kind of split-dye white and black hair. “Yeah, I’m talking to you. What’s your name?”
“I—Tommy,” the kid squeaked.

All’s well until it’s very much not, and Wilbur didn’t anticipate the fact that some gods don’t play by the rules, and that this one in particular takes any prizes he wants in war.

Hot tears give his face a temporary escape from the bitter cold. He really hadn't thought this through. He just didn't want to spend one more sleepless night in that stuffy room right next to his dad. But he's thinking too much. He's just got to get through tonight and figure out tomorrow tomorrow.
He pulls out his phone and presses Tommy's name. The phone rings several times before he hears Tommy's voice.
"Hey Tubbo... why're you up this time of night?" Tommy says, his voice slightly raspy with sleep.
"I- I'm sorry for waking you up. I just-"
Tommy interrupts him. "Tubbo, are you home? I hear cars."
"No, I'm at a bus stop. Can you tell me how to get to your house? I... I can't- I can't go home." He chokes out the last sentence as he tries to silence a sob. But Tommy notices.
"Shit, Tubbo, the bus doesn't come here. I'm getting Phil, alright? We're coming to get you."
OR: Tubbo runs away and finds his real family.

“Tommy! Tommy, can you hear me?” She scooped up the body and Whisper finally got a decent look at him.
He was young, too young to be passed out alone in a rainy alley. His blonde hair was darkened by water and streaks that must have been blood if his batter face was anything to go by. His skin was pale and his body trembled slightly, even in unconsciousness.
Whisper moved side by side with his partner, pulling out first aid supplies and searching for major injuries. “You know this kid?” he asked.
