Distance was not unfamiliar for Grace, physical and emotional, it was like all his life had been living inside a bubble covering him to keep him in his solitude. He didn’t know what to do when that bubble burst against his will, forced to coexist with his best friend the alien, his brother, who he barely talked to anymore, and the quiet stranger that he rescued.
Or Ryland is sent to space with his twin brother, and he rescues Simon along the way. And Rocky is here too.

Summary
This had been a long time coming.
It had been months since Grace pulled Simon from his artificial waters, bloody and half-insane. Months since he's nursed him back to health, met his feral bullshit with kindness, and informed him that whatever fucked up wormhole he'd popped out of led him to a universe full of stars and planets and an Earth light-years away.
Their caution of one another (though mostly on Simon's side) gradually morphed into respect. Not long after, it became attraction.

Simon's picked up a habit.
Ever since their first time together, an invisible barrier had been broken between Simon and Grace. Grace had always been a tactile person, only spurred on by his years of human solitude, but he felt reaffirmed that it was wanted now that Simon initiated and reciprocated more freely. Arms around each other's waist from behind, chins on their shoulders, hands interlinked and legs tangled on the couch. They played footsies while they ate and Grace would drape himself across Simon whenever he felt like it or his legs got tired because he knew he was strong enough to take it.
