To be completely honest, I don't remember much about soulmarks. Well, I don't remember much about anything, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that I'd remember what a soulmark is and nothing else. I think it has something to do with soulmates...?
Ryland Grace wakes up alone on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. All he's got is himself, his precarious memories, and this darn soulmark on his arm.

“The color or the rock?” I tease, earning myself a low staccato noise not unlike what a human might sound like when faking a laugh.
And then, from one second to another, he straightens. I sense the shift in the air, and as I rise from my squat, Rocky's gaze follows me very, very slowly.
“What?” I ask.
“Say name of this again,” he says, and I tilt my head. He’s never needed me to repeat something before. His hearing is immaculate, and he’s never once forgotten something I’ve told him.
“It’s a rock.”
He doesn’t move. He stares at me with his featureless face until even that feels more unsettling than eye contact.
“Grace,” he says flatly. “You are fucking kidding me, question?”

It’s only when Stan lifts him up, seconds later (since when was Ford so out of it he didn’t notice Stan approaching, Stan touching him, Stan beginning to lift him, a part of him screams in fear) that Ford vocalizes this.
“Stanley. Something is wrong.” He tries to keep his voice as even as possible. He fails.
Stan sighs. “I know, Six. We’re gonna get you to bed. I shouldn’t have fought ya, but we shouldn’t have let it get this far either.”
OR Ford has his first focal aware seizure. Stan...is not a fan.

“He… He did?” No wonder Ma had been on the verge of hysterics earlier. It was one thing to hear from the deadbeat son, but to hear from the good one too? That was a different story.
“How… How’s he doing?” his voice was more of a whisper than he’d have liked.
He hadn’t spoken to Stanford in years. Not since Stanley’s hopes of forgiveness had ended in searing hot metal and a trip somewhere that still haunted him when he closed his eyes. Once he’d gotten back, he left that godforsaken house and the man inside it and made damn sure to never look back.
Ford wasn’t the one who went through the portal in 1982. Though he might not have been stranded on the other side of it for decades, that portal had destroyed a lot more than just metal and wiring and Stanley wasn’t sure he had it in him to even want to put the pieces of it all back together anymore.

It's not jealousy. Adrian is adamant about that. They are actually insisting that it’s not any emotion at all. Not even dislike. They are simply completely uninterested in anything that concerns “the human”.
Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. They acknowledge that Grace and Rocky have a special bond after everything they went through together and also understand that none of that will ever pose a threat to their relationship.
Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. Adrian has told Rocky again and again that they are grateful and happy and wish the alien no ill will. They even helped with the construction of the biodome.
And yet they have no desire to get to know Grace.

He is huddled on top of a building surrounded by satellite dishes, curling up as small as he can make himself, legs pulled up to his chest, arms slung around them, head buried in his knees. He must look pretty pathetic but no one will see him up here and even if they did, he’s kind of over it. They just asked him to die, he deserves a bit of a mental breakdown, thank you very much.
