It was a shitshow, to say the least. Despite, what he’d told Bobby all those months ago, he did not have a handle on the problem. He had the opposite. He had zero handles, and he was too embarrassed to bring it up. It was definitely an issue, but it wasn’t too serious. And it didn’t affect anybody besides himself.
But it was definitely affecting him in a bad way. Hard day at work? Go have sex to feel better. Bobby yell at him for screwing up again? Find an old guy to tell him he’s good for something. See a happy family on a call and remember he hasn’t spoken to Maddie in seven years? Blackout so he doesn’t have to be reminded of that gaping wound.
It was really bad. Yeah. But like, privately bad. Secretly bad. Except for his roommates, who were starting to get pissed about him stumbling around drunk with his guests. So, he started to look for a new apartment in earnest.
And just when he was starting to think things were getting actually concerning, and pretty soon he wouldn’t even remember what the point of anything was, who walked into the fire station, looking perfect and attractive and ready to change Buck’s life?
Eddie fucking Diaz.

Summary
Buck swipes his tongue over his blood-splattered lips, the metallic taste lingering on his tongue. Something sharp pinches the back of his hand, and he waits for the familiar, almost comforting sensation of pain medication to begin to flood through his veins.
The pain begins to recede to a more welcoming ache, though it continues to ripple across his pelvis in small waves. Buck’s body slumps against the rubble as the last of the adrenaline begins to leave his body. His vision swims in and out of focus, but one constant thought manages to break through the fog.
Eddie.
He needs them to know.

How can you come up to me after you didn't hear anything about me for a month after what happened that night and ask if I'm fine? I'm not. I'm really not. How are you fine? Did-do i mean this little to you?" Buck couldn't believe how can hr act this nonchalant after what happened.
"Look, I'm, I can't tell you how sorry I am, you have to believe me I didn't mean things to go this way, I-I-"
"Oh, sorry, my bad, so you didn't mean to come to my apartman, to MY house when you were in your bitchy alpha mode because someone made you angry? You did not mean to have sex with me? You didn't mean to knot me? You didn't mean to rip it out? You didn't mean to leave me there, all alone, potentially bleeding to death? You didn't mean any of it right? Silly me." Evan was furious, heartbroken and confused. He never would've thought his-, well not his alpha could hurt him this much. Summary
For months, Buck has been professionally harassed over dispatch by one infuriatingly calm operator with a smug voice, a superiority complex, and a deeply concerning habit of calling him sweetheart over an active emergency line.
Buck hates him.
Obviously.
Then he meets Eddie Diaz in person and unfortunately discovers that the smug voice comes with stupidly nice hands, unfair eye contact, and a thirteen-year-old son who immediately decides Buck is his problem now.
Worse, Eddie gets weirdly possessive every time someone else looks at Buck too long.
Worse than that, Buck likes it.
And when a bad call turns into a building collapse and Eddie has to listen to Buck trapped beneath it over an open dispatch line, suddenly none of it feels like a joke anymore.
Or: Buck and Eddie fall in love while arguing over city emergency communications, and literally everyone is tired of them.
