“Will!!”
Joyce’s scream cuts through the desolate air of Dimension X. She drops to her knees, eyes fixed on Will, who’s on all fours, head hanging, chest heaving. His hands sink into the ash as his body begins to shake, sharp and uncontrollable.
Mike darts forward. “Will?! Will!! Are you okay?!”
The others follow, fear written across their faces. Robin kneels before him, reaching out. Her voice just above a whisper.
“Will?”
Slowly, he lifts his head. Green eyes are gone—replaced by milky white orbs staring into Robin’s blue ones.
Gasps ripple through the group. This isn’t Will. The gentleness is gone. The warmth Will carried has now shifted with a cold murderous look. As if the light was drained out of him. A smirk curls across his lips.
His voice is low, chilling, yet almost tender:
“I told you… every door you leave open, I walk through.”Vecna has found his way back home.
Will was never the target. He was the way in.

“Why?” Holly whined, as Mike tried to walk away. She threw both arms around his legs and sank to the floor, sitting on his feet so that it was extremely difficult to walk.
“Because,” said Mike, trying to free himself from her grip by shaking his legs. She only held on tighter.
“But he’s so amazing,” said Holly, as Mike shuffled his feet slowly when he realised she would not be relinquishing her hold on him anytime soon. He dragged her into the hallway so he could put on his coat. “He’s the best, most incrediblest, most fantastic babysitter in the whole world! You should marry him!”

“Dude,” Mike blushed, glaring at him. He wasn’t surprised when Lucas unashamedly took a sip, though he was surprised when both Max and El took sips, giggling with each other. He wasn’t even gonna question that.
No, what really shocked him was when Will, the boy who had come out to them as gay a few weeks back, took a gulp.

No one really knew what happened in California, at least, not from Will. Sure, El had told them all about the bullying eventually, but they all knew that Will liked to keep things close to the chest.

Dustin looked around nervously. His eyes met Will’s. “Because.. We weren't ready to tell anyone yet.” He looked back at Mike, then switched gears to stare obviously at Will. He grew slightly more confident. “Baby, I’m sorry. I mean it.” He murmured. Dustin's hand, which Will realized he never really let go of, squeezed his own.
“Baby?” Mike squawked.

After the small victory of saving all 12 children but Holly, the team notices Will Byers has seemingly vanished again without anyone noticing. Will wakes in the upside down and escapes back to Hawkins, but not quite the one he wanted to. To find a way back home, Will calls upon the help of some of Hawkins High class of '59, while back in 1987 his mother Joyce is faced with another boy in a situation reminiscent of her own son, but a boy she thought she'd have to kill to eventually have her revenge.
