Jake grabbed the songcord with only 6 beads, “What is this?”
Spider’s eyes welled up with tears, shame crawling on his skin. He didn’t reply. Jake knew what it was and was asking only to embarrass him, to make him admit it so he could be corrected for his mistake. His chin started trembling, and to save himself from further humiliation, he ducked his head, trying to calm his hitched breaths.
Jake tried again, softer, almost reverent, “It’s really pretty.”
Spider shaked his head, it wasn’t pretty, it was stupid. He wanted nothing more than to snatch it back from Jake’s hands and throw it in the ocean, to throw the evidence of everything he wanted but could not have in the deepest parts of the sea.
Or, after the RDA and Quaritch, Spider is forced to face the reality he had been avoiding for too long.

Summary
No one says anything as he walks into the locker room that morning. Evan never expected them to. Recently it's been nothing but cold shoulders and the occasional awkward eye contact.
He gets bored earlier than normal today, with the light duty he’s been assigned since he returned to work, and decides to flip through his mail earlier than usual. About halfway through the pile he gets to an envelope with a very familiar seal.
Before today Evan would’ve tried to fight it. He would’ve called Ice and asked him for a favor, but now? Now, he’s ecstatic. He is finally ready to go back. Mentally and physically. But first Evan has to quit his job.

Summary
It's the first winter after Pitch's defeat. Jack is happy, he's not alone anymore, and his memories are gradually returning. But when a treasure hunt gone wrong puts Jack and Jamie in danger, flinging them through time and space, they find themselves on an island neither of them have heard of before. Jack's first priority is to get Jamie home safe, but Berk's inhabitants - human and otherwise - are certainly not making it easy.
Knowing they will leave Berk and the Vikings behind as soon as they know how to, Jack is not going to risk the pain of growing close to any of these people (or dragons, for that matter). But Hiccup Horrendous Haddock, wearing his heart on his sleeve, doesn't seem to want to take the hint.
