I don’t normally pay that much attention to the credits. In general, I tend to care more about the fictional characters than the real humans playing them, but this had caught my attention.
I mean, it wasn't the first serial that ever put in a SecUnit as a villain instead of a prop. RihaniLane Street had actually made their SecUnit villain sympathetic before it tried to kill everyone. And obviously this fictional SecUnit was going to be a villain, too, because they always were, but that scene was —
The credits said ‘Made and Produced in GoodNightLander Independent.’
Oh.-
Or, Murderbot has feelings about finding positive representation.
Mostly positive.
Even when humans try, they get SecUnits wrong in media.
(Not the murder, the murders were justified, but the writers made the fictional SecUnit like cubicles)

She listened to the Hail Mary take off, listened to it through a broadcast on a pair of headphones that could never convey the weight of her choices. Could never communicate how much she had sacrificed to get here.
Eva Stratt spent the day after launch on trial.
And she spent the rest of her life atoning for her sins in the worst way possible.
Living a good life.

It’s at this point that I realise I don’t know where I am.
And it’s at this point that I realise: I don’t know who I am.When Ryland Grace wakes up in a jail cell and Eva Stratt finds herself in the middle of a spacewalk, neither of them are particularly clear on how they ended up there. Grace must do his best to reverse-engineer whatever phenomenon landed him in Stratt's body, while Stratt must work with Rocky to investigate Tau Ceti's Astrophage population.
Unfortunately, Grace is stuck on Earth.
And Stratt doesn't remember a thing.

Whatever was going on, something was wrong. We were maybe only 13 but not completely stupid. The news had made our parents tense, there was a reason why Mr. Grace at first tried not explaining to us what was happening. Some weird theories and conspiracies ranging from relatively normal to absolutely insane started to spread among students after he had disappeared.
In hindsight 13 year old me could see what was coming, and she wasn't afraid to speak up about it. I sometimes wish I still had that much energy left right now as I was watching the news with bated breath. As that name that had been bothering me for decades in the back of my mind suddenly resurfaced. Heralded as a hero.
Or how Dr. Cara Nilsson, 59, scientist and old student of Mr. Grace, has seen the events across the years. How the world turned to madness, the slow leaking of information about what had happened, whistle-blowers, war, famine and then Eva Stratt getting out of prison. Only to finally learn what had happened to that teacher she had always looked up to.

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

Something rippled around her. It wasn't a sound. It was more of a texture, a movement, a local gravitational instability, a color. It felt like laughter. You didn't have to say it like that, [SecUnit] said, and it was pure relief to know it wasn't upset. It was joking. It's fine, though. The feed is different, it doesn't bother me in the same way. You can… it winced, but finished, 'touch me' as much as you want, in here.
In the immediate aftermath of her kidnapping, Ayda isn't ready to be alone. SecUnit isn't ready to let her out of its sight, either. When she makes the startling discovery that her new implant allows her to connect with it in a way she never knew was possible, they reach for one another on instinct. Sometimes, the comfort you need can take you places you never expected.
