    Summary

"How lucky for us! An entire island all to ourselves." Donut jumped down from Mordecai's shoulder to the floor and began weaving herself between my legs. "I will miss Katia, though. And Elle and Imani. They deserve a break, too."

"Don't you get the feeling that this is some sort of trap?" I didn't want to upset Donut, but her nonchalance about the whole situation was grating.

"No, Carl, I don't think it's some sort of trap. The AI said it himself, we've earned this. Unlike you, I have a sense of self-worth and can accept gracious gifts when I know I deserve them." She headbutted my leg and nuzzled her face against me. "However, also unlike you I've never had a romantic partner fool around behind my back, so I suppose I can see why you have such an issue trusting others."

The Royal Court of Princess Donut finds themselves transported to a tropical resort for seemingly no reason. Donut has no problem indulging in an all-inclusive vacation, but Carl isn't quite so easily convinced.

    Summary

You know, Crawler, historians used to have a fascinating habit.

Two men would live together for forty years. They'd share a house. Share a bed. Raise a cat together. Leave each other everything in their wills. Write letters so disgustingly affectionate that they make romance novels look emotionally constipated.

And historians would look at all of this and conclude:

    "What close friends."

    Amazing.

Truly a level of denial normally reserved for cult leaders, reality television contestants, and people who think they're "just being nice."

Now, to be fair, housing costs are terrible. Sometimes two fully grown men do end up sharing an apartment. Sometimes they do sleep in the same bed. Sometimes they do spend every waking moment worrying about each other. Sometimes they do accidentally build a life together.

But eventually, Crawler, there comes a point where you're not fooling anybody anymore.

    Not the audience.

    Not the cat.

    And definitely not yourselves.

    Summary

The dungeon's over, and the AI assumes his help rebuilding Earth will bring him and Carl closer. But, to his dismay, Carl still blames him for all the suffering the dungeon caused. It doesn't matter what the AI does, he can't seem to get Carl to see him as anything other than an enemy.
In desperation he hatches a plan, something he thinks Carl won't be able to ignore. However, like everything else he's tried, it spectacularly backfires. Instead of Carl learning more about who the AI is, the AI learns more about what it means to be human than he ever wanted to know.

    Summary

Item: Chest Compressor of the Fondling Father

An elastic and nylon tunic which (unlike its death trap predecessors) has a one-way pocket dimension entry between the lower band and shoulder straps, ensuring any body part placed within is safe in the void for any duration of time. You can be a stealth-maxxing passoid for far longer than 8 hours with no rib bruising—just watch out for any interdimensional hitchhikers, wink wink. This bad boy was plagiarized so blatantly from Tumblr that it may as well have been stolen from the president! Which it was, kind of. Specifically the third one. Hope you like Vocaloid, you weeaboo shit.

    > Adds +2 to Constitution
    > Will always be partly visible from the neckline of any shirt-class item.
    > Adds +3 to Charisma, unless whoever you are speaking to recognizes it, in which case it is -1.
    > Warning! This item contains an entrance to a pocket dimension. Usual rules apply.
    > This is a unique item! It cannot be sold or traded.

Alternatively: an additional parallel exists between Carl and the System AI. It takes a while for both of them to navigate this fully.

    Summary

Due to Prepotente's actions on Floor 7. Borant Corporation is way ahead of schedule, which doesn't sit right with the participants of the Faction Wars on the Floor 9. Strings are pulled; action lawsuits are filed. To appease everybody, Borant introduces a special three-day episode, where they pluck several crawlers out of the dungeon and drop them on an island with a goal of saving the ones they hold most dear. Carl knows who exactly the people most dear to him are. He just underestimates his feelings for one of them in particular.
