Max had sworn he had scouted the area properly; it should have been safe for Charles to quickly piss and for him to smoke. There wasn't meant to be any danger lurking—
"Max!" Seb snapped, "Get in the fucking car. Then Charles can jump in. We need to go."
He didn't listen. Max felt Sebastian try to stop him; he felt fingers gently graze his shoulder, but he was already racing ahead.
