“Yeah right,” Joey muttered, the humor fading as quick as it came. “I’d need to learn how to kiss a guy first.”
Chandler blinked, unsure what to do with that. His brain immediately went down the familiar sarcastic avenues, reaching for the punchline, but they all felt too sharp against the honesty in Joey’s tone. For a fleeting, ridiculous second, he wondered if Joey was hinting at something more, before immediately shutting that thought down. No way. It was Joey. Joey.
“Okay… so?” he said finally, leaning back against the couch, trying to keep his tone light. “What do you need from me? A pep talk? Fake boyfriend résumé?” He forced a small laugh. “A mint?”
He waited for Joey to laugh with him, to bounce the bit back, to give him that easy grin and make it safe again. But Joey didn’t. He just stood there, shifting from foot to foot, hands fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.
The silence stretched.
“Yeah…” Joey started, voice lower now, careful. “I was kinda hoping... you’d, you know... help me practice.”

The weight of being Superman has started to get to Clark. He just wants to let loose for once, to indulge in the darker parts of himself without judgement. So when he meets Bruce, an aloof and charismatic man just being to be torn apart by Clark's hands, he gives in. It's only this once, Clark tells himself, and then he'll go back to life of sunshine and hope-- back to his life of wistful pining for the one connection he craves so desperately but knows will always be at arms length.

It's been fucking amazing, actually, even with dealing with the press, even with hiding his night job, because he'd trade close to anything for the date nights at fancy restaurants and the cuddling (cuddling! actually cuddling!) during movie nights and sometimes, when it's early, just before Bruce leaves, and they're curled together in the darkness, and Bruce just talks, Clark just listens, and it feels like maybe the jagged piece of cracked stone in his chest that Bruce calls a heart might actually be worth something, for once. And oh yeah, the sex is incredible, but watching Clark interact with his kids, even with how infrequently it happens by necessity? That's better than anything that could happen in bed.
And now— But now— There's Clark. Gorgeous, intelligent, caring, loving and lovely Clark Kent standing in the center of the room, face hopeful, glasses held in his hands as he shares his biggest secret with Bruce.
