It wasn’t that Wei Wuxian didn't know how to say “no” to things.
He was very good at all words, as a matter of fact. Speaking was one of his Top Things, and he resented anyone who would say otherwise. Wei Wuxian could say no whenever he wanted.
It was just that. Why say “no” when “yes” was right there?
“You want me to invent a what?” Wei Wuxian asked, excitement already ringing through his body.
Lan Sizhui shot an anxious look at Lan Jingyi before answering. “A duplication talisman.”
“Not for anything evil,” Lan Jingyi interjected suddenly. “We’re not going to do anything nefarious with it, you know, we just --”
“Yes,” Wei Wuxian interrupted.
“-- thought it would be helpful to … wait, really?”
“Yes,” Wei Wuxian repeated, fingers already itching to get to work as the possibilities stretched out before him, an inviting new path brimming with opportunity.
He smiled.
Something, not quite fearful, but definitely apprehensive crossed over Lan Sizhui’s face as he wondered if they had just made a horrible mistake.
