Lux was perfect.
It was a fact of life, like gravity. And Jinx had long since accepted her role as the coward who worshipped the sun from a safe distance. She didn’t need to ruin the best thing in her life by confessing a pathetic love that Lux would probably just try to gently, politely reject.
They were best friends. That was it. Jinx was okay with that.

Summary
2004: Jinx Lanes signs her first major league contract with the Zaunite Firelights at just 22. As a rookie pitcher, her game quickly becomes infamous and beloved for her chaotic play-style. She's got grit, she's cocky and she loves to challenge the rules, with all the talent to back it up. Only one thing stands in her way: top pitcher Caitlyn Kiramman—'the Sharpshooter'.
