Summary
“I see you.”
Something crosses between universes that should never touch. A vessel built for a blood ocean, broken open in deep space. Inside it, barely alive, a man no one was looking for and a tree that should not exist.
Grace and Rocky did not ask for this. But Grace has not seen another human being in years, and the ruined stranger on his medbay table is, impossibly, alive.
Simon has only ever known one law: everything costs something. Kindness is a debt. Care is a trap. He has no idea what to do with a man who keeps giving him things and asking for nothing back, and no framework at all for the one that terrifies him most: being seen, and not made to pay for it.

My jaw goes slack but I don’t stop walking. Rocky ran far ahead to the airlock and we trailed behind by a few hundred feet. “Another alien?” I ask, dumbfounded.
“Apologies. Clarification. Another human.”

Ryland Grace just settled into life on Erid. He JUST stopped starving, like, 6 months ago. Now there's another human around, which doesn't make any sense. Nothing makes sense anymore, but this makes extra less sense.
OR: Another Bloodymary fix-it fic. Takes place 3 years after Ryland Grace moves into the biosphere on Erid, right after the "rough years," for him, mentioned at the end of the book.

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.
