Until a wild-eyed boy shows up claiming that he is her son and needs her help, along with the Savior's, to break a curse.
A canon divergent fic/rewrite of the end of season 4B (episodes 4x21 and 4x22). In other words: Operation Mongoose, Swan Queen style.

Summary
All her life, Emma wanted only to belong. And just when she finally starts to get her wish, everything begins to change. Henry's no longer a kid who needs her like he used to. Her parents have a new child. She herself seems to have acquired something resembling a boyfriend. And Robin and Regina are in a relationship.
Emma doesn't know what to do or how to feel about these changes. So she starts running. Not too far away, and never for long enough to cause her family worry. Just far away enough and for long enough to protect not only them, but herself.
Until the day when that's no longer enough.

Shortly before Emma’s marriage to Hook, Emma asks for Regina’s help in undoing the Black Fairy’s spell on her dress. For once, Emma just wants something in her life to be normal, and wearing her mother's wedding dress in a non-curse-blackened state seems like a good start.
But ultimately, what Emma really needs Regina’s help with is a lot more complex – and a lot more seemingly impossible.
An explanation in fic form as to why Emma does not wear Snow’s wedding dress in canon. Starts at the end of S6 and picks up again post-S7 (but it's probably not necessary to have watched both seasons in full).
