Once again, the man nodded. Bjørn laughed to himself, “So I’m assuming the question is something along the lines of why I’m still following you?” After all, why had he continued to follow him?
The blond man seemed rather pleased that Bjørn figured out his question so fast. He graced the Bear-man with a small smile and nodded. Bjørn flushed at this, Valshamr looked quite handsome with a smile like that. He didn’t know how to respond, so instead of replying with a smart and understandable answer as to why he would stupidly follow a man of unknown origin, he simply responded with,
“I suppose I wanted to.”

Summary
After it's all said and done, Jayce and Viktor wake up on the other side — lost in the middle of a thick, vibrant jungle. They're together. They're alive. They should be happy. But Viktor’s connection to the Arcane isn't making things easier. Every time he sleeps, Viktor teleports them somewhere else; to a new continent, a far off star, a trap in the high seas, further and further away from home.
What seems like the end is just the beginning.

Summary
“… incinerated my prototypes,” he is saying as Viktor watches him; half-conversational, half-explanatory. “A few times, actually, by now. It’s like cat and mouse: I make them, they incinerate them … I don’t think they ever realised I had any other crystals or they’d definitely incinerate those, too.”
“Bastards,” Viktor says, seriously.
Jayce grins up at him again. “Yeah,” he says, “bastards. The whole lot.”
They look at each other oddly, both blinking. Then Jayce grins again, as though he is in on some sort of great joke that only the two of them are privy to. For the first time in a very long time, Viktor feels very aware of his mask standing between the world an his face.
Perhaps the cooling system is clogged again. He feels oddly warm.
Or: Zaunite shut-in Viktor hides in his lab and behind his mask, until a tipsy Academy drop-out stumbles into his life on a reckless gander into the Undercity. Something blooms.

Summary
Somewhere, in one timeline, Viktor sits on top of his lonely tower, looking out over the empty world of his own creation, watching the last remnants of his Jayce crumble into dust.
Somewhere, in another timeline, Jayce lies curled up in bed, clutching the shirt of his Viktor who passed away all too soon.
But, like two magnets, like moth to a flame, like binary stars, Jayce and Viktor will always gravitate towards one another.

Summary
He tries not to think too hard on it, but when he's at his lowest, he's certain he isn't built to be adored. It's gotten worse with age, with his baby fat thinning out and his shoulders broadening. The more imposing he's become, the more he's desired, but not in any way that's meaningful. He's tried to seek connection a few times here and there, but what people want from him isn't something he can manage to give.
His stature has precluded him from gentleness, from reverence and care. It's devastating, but unsurprising. He is seen, not known. Observed but never understood. What more could he expect?
