Summary
Never mind the next two weeks, the next eight hours stretched endlessly in front of him. He had no idea how to occupy his time. His house was basically empty, which sounded sad but was really a good thing, evidence he’d built himself the life he wanted – where he always had something to do, outside and with other people. Ilya had been restless for as long as he could remember, had never been able to sit still. He’d gotten in trouble for it as a kid at the dinner table and he got in trouble for it as a full grown man on the team bus. He’d gotten in trouble for it when the doctors had been trying to take the x-ray, his leg jumping without his permission.
Ilya gets injured, stops leaving the house, loses his mind, learns to read tarot, and sends Shane Hollander a lot of photos.

This is a "friends with benefits" story that is actually about the friendship, which will not and does not need to become "more." Mostly takes place in between the events of S01E04 "Rose."
Ilya flexed his muscles cartoonishly at her until Svetlana begged him to quit making her laugh. He collapsed on the couch beside her and slung an arm around her shoulders. Kissing the top of her head, he said, “You’re always talking about how boring men are. Maybe you should try fucking a girl some time.”
Svetlana opened and closed her mouth a few times, having an uncharacteristically difficult time getting words to come out of her mouth. Enough time passed that Ilya had given up on the topic when she quietly said, “I might not be good at it. I like to be good at things.”

“I hate your car,” he says, at last.
“Yes, I know,” Ilya says. It sounds like he’s smiling.

“What is grailed dot com?” Shane reads out loud from the computer screen.
“How have you spent almost fifty grand on it in the last year?”
Ilya doesn’t reply.
“Is it a-” it’s like Ilya can hear the gears turning in Shane’s head, “Is it a porn website?”
Ilya laughs lightly, endeared by Shane's choice of words, “As if you would know.”
“Fuck you, I’ve watched porn.”
Ilya turns to face him, a look of pleased incredulity painted on his features. He watches as Shane processes what he just said and then shakes his head as if to rid himself of the trance. Shane both hates and loves these moments when Ilya gets him to say ludicrous things in his own defense. As if he even needs to defend himself.
Shane and Ilya talk about personal finance, porn and they are in love.
