“I’m just gonna say it,” Jay said, holding the radar in one hand and testing its weight, “this is super freaky.”
“You could say that again,” Cole said from behind him. The older boy had gravitated towards the wall that had his grandfather’s portrait on it, and Jay could hear the tinges of sadness mixed in with Cole’s bewilderment. “They’ve got a ton of stuff from the Garrison here. My grandpa’s picture, reports, science articles. It’s all stuff from the Kerberos mission. I don’t even know where they could’ve gotten half this stuff.”
“Kerberos?” Jay said, slightly alarmed. “What were they doing with the stuff about Kerberos?”
“I think,” Cole said, “that they were investigating it. It looks like Uncle Ray and Aunt Maya think that maybe…maybe it wasn’t an accident.”

Every team has a weak link, he supposed. The wind whipped around him, howling and screaming with an eerie dissonance. He felt a frigid shiver roll down his spine. He sucked in a breath, holding back salty, unshed tears. He closed his eyes. Inhaling. Easier to blame the wind than to face the truth. With that exhale came a final thought.
“It's better this way.”
____________________________________________There’s something wrong with Jay.
No matter how hard he tries, he is never enough to protect others. He’s never serious. He arrives too late. He can’t control his powers enough to protect the ones he loves. He’s always been the weak link.
Wojira is rising.
As the ninja race to stop Wojira, everyone on the team must step up. Otherwise, Ninjago will fall. Jay holds his family close to his heart. Just like his lightning. Maybe it’s time for him to finally let go.
(A Seabound rewrite but I switched Jay and Nya because I need more Jay angst in life.)
