Normally Shauna would have said something about kidnapping or being held against her will, but in this case all she did was settle back into the seat. She didn’t know where Melissa was taking her but she honestly didn’t care. Anything was better than another evening of listening to her parents fight.

Summary
Rogue is back in Salem Center, reunited with Remy and the rest of her high school friends. Once there, she finds that rich upper-middle class humans are moving into town in droves and causing all sorts of problems for the town's mutant population. Tensions are already high across the country thanks to the looming re-election campaign of President Kelly, because, after four years, he hasn't had enough of stripping away the already pitiful rights that mutants and other minority groups are so graciously afforded. The way things are going, it doesn't seem like the human and mutant residents of Salem Center will be able to peacefully co-exist.
To top it all off, Rogue is unemployed, living on her brother's couch, and extremely, breathtakingly lonely. After ten years of isolating herself from everyone, she's not sure she even remembers how to have friends.
And she's also kind of, sort of, maybe, possibly still in love with her best friend from high school. Her best friend who she kissed and knocked unconscious and then ghosted for a decade. So. That's great.

After receiving a job to infiltrate a meeting between the Rasputin family and all the other Russian crime families of NYC, Kitty finds herself in a tight spot and does the most improv she's ever done since 8th grade drama class. While in the (forced) company of Illyana and her mafia members, Kitty gets to work trying to slip intel out to the other Marauders without getting caught. During this time, Kitty enjoys the power given to her through Illyana's desire for her, realizing she just might be able to influence the mob's every move.
