Summary
"How quickly intimacy erodes certainty," Hannibal said, his voice like silk pulled taut. "How easily fidelity becomes contextual."
Will didn’t flinch. He only smiled, a slow, lazy curve of the mouth, deceptively relaxed. Yet, there was a flicker of something quieter passed through his eyes.
"That’s elegant." He said, stripping away ambiguity with precision. "Almost makes it sound like you didn’t plan it."
Hannibal inclined his head, unapologetic. He didn't deny it. And that gave Will everything he needed.
So, he leaned forward.
"I could ask you the same." Will said it too evenly, like a man laying a card he’d been waiting to play.
Hannibal went still for attuning, barely perceptible. A subtle pause in breath, a flicker in his mouth's line. But Will saw it, felt it.
He continued, tone softer now, almost affectionate. "How does it feel," he murmured, “to touch your daughter’s respected mentor?—"
He didn’t look at Hannibal as he said it. He leaned closer, too close, his breath ghosting warm across Hannibal’s cheek, his lips brushing just shy of skin near the curve of his ear.

Summary
Hannibal needs a kitchen remodel, and his colleague and friend Alana knows just the guy to help him with his rundown new home. Enter Will Graham, carpenter and contractor extraordinaire, and devastating addition to Hannibal's daily life. When he starts running out of new projects to keep Will around, Hannibal fast realizes his infatuation is more than simple attraction - and that getting Will to agree to dinner is only the first hurdle.

Jack Crawford repeated, “No further questions!” at the top of his lungs like a mantra. The way a child would, in combination with ears covered and eyes screwed shut, to block out an unpleasant sound.

“Doctor,” he bit out before he could stop himself. Where did Jack find this one? He sounds impossibly young... too innocent to be making calls to men without the patience for him to gather his wits about him.
“Doctor Lecter,” came a squeaking response. “Forgive me for the interruption—”
“Please get to the point, Agent.” Another beat of silence, before the phrase he never wanted to hear spilled across the distance that separated them; words he dreaded as much as he did the cold. Words he hoped would never come, but knew to anticipate before the end.
“Agent Crawford asked that I call, sir. It’s Will Graham. I’m afraid he’s been injured.”
Hannibal’s phone fell from his numb fingers.
Will is hurt in the line of Jack's misguided sense of duty. In the wake of facing the very real possibility of mortality, can he or Hannibal keep their feelings in check?

Hannibal made the use of endearments look natural, almost easy. Darling. Cunning boy. Beloved. Hannibal called him all types of sweet names that never failed to make Will's cheeks flush, and Will... Well, Will called Hannibal 'Hannibal.'
Tired of it, Will started to look for the perfect endearment.
And if he teased Hannibal with the most ridiculous petnames that existed until he found it, well, that was a bonus.
