“I ever tell you I used to be a stripper?”

No, Eddie thought, some hysterical kind of indignation slipping into his mind. No, Buck hadn't told him. And why not? Was he planning to use those skills with the guy who looked like the walking personification of a weed pen? Was he just planning to…

Eddie got lost in his quickly forming images of Buck.

    As a stripper.

    Stripper Buck.

    Buck stripping.

    Buck naked.

Straight guys sometimes pictured their friends naked. So normal. Just human nature.

    OR -

Eddie works out what his joy looks like enough to start making moves on Buck, but does not get far enough to figure out what that means for him. He is also haunted by Chappell Roan.

    Summary

“You were drunk. I know it didn’t mean anything. Everything’s alright.”

Buck visibly winces. “That’s not — Eddie.”

There’s a suspended moment where Buck looks torn, standing on the edge of something, eyes fixed on the horizon to avoid looking at the drop, the precipitous canyon below. But then Buck, who can’t lie, who would tear his own chest open to a complete stranger on the street because the truth of him spills so loudly out of every jagged edge, sighs out:

    “It meant something.”

There’s a ringing sound somewhere in the distance, getting closer. “What are you…” Eddie trails off.

“I wasn’t — well, I was drunk. But that wasn’t what. Wasn’t why. Not entirely, or — god.” Buck shudders in a breath, steeling himself. “I have feelings for you.” He closes his eyes. “I’m so sorry.”

    ~

Buck confesses his feelings. Eddie’s straight. If he spends all his time thinking about Buck and looking at Buck and wanting to be around Buck, well, that’s just being a good friend, isn’t it? He’s being so normal about this, actually.

    "Can I try something?"

"Yeah, sure, g-go ahead, man." Buck cringes, and even that is adorable.

    "Close your eyes."

    "E-Eddie," Buck croaks helplessly.

"I'm not gonna bite, Buckley. Trust me?"

Buck closes his eyes. Squeezes them shut, really.

Eddie tugs his face into the curve of Buck's shoulder before he can lose the nerve, Buck's pulse fluttering wildly against the tip of Eddie's nose.

Buck is struggling after the events in New Mexico. Eddie decides to move in with him about it.

    Summary

"So." Buck takes another sip of coffee, real slow, savoring the wind-up. He sets the mug down with a soft clink. "Princess."

    Eddie closes his eyes.

This is it. This is where they find him face down in his eggs. Chimney's going to have to call Pepa. Pepa is going to be furious. The funeral will be small and Buck better wear something hideous to it, Buck better wear that godawful floral shirt with the parrots, the one Eddie told him was ugly out loud one time two years ago and has been secretly obsessed with ever since, because Eddie deserves the satisfaction of being buried while looking at it.

"Buck." He says it into his toast.

    Buck shrugs. "I'm just asking."

"You're not asking. You're enjoying yourself."

"I'm doing both, Eds, I’m versatile."

    Or,
Eddie gains a boyfriend, a pair of lace panties, and learns a lot about himself in the span of forty-eight hours.
