    Summary

Columbina tilts her head. “Has it had any physical effects? Please indulge my lack of sight.”

Illuga frowns. “I don’t have any scars from the Hunter now, if that’s what you mean,” he says. “It’s as if I’d never been attacked in the first place.”

Aether’s hand hesitantly lands on Illuga’s shoulder. “I didn’t want to stress you out more until we could talk to Columbina, but now that we’re here, you should probably look at your reflection,” he says quietly, carefully.

His body stiffens in an instant, and that feeling of ,wrong, wrong, wrong hits him again full force. He steps out from under Aether’s touch and staggers on autopilot toward the closest pool of water. Illuga crouches down at the edge, pushing his fingers into his hair for some sort of grounding as he leans forward, lantern knocking against his thigh. He catches sight of his reflection, and his world tilts on its axis.

Illuga comes back from the dead less human and more fae than before.

    Summary

Despite their angelic reputation, Halovians are no less bound by their bodies as anyone else. Even those supposedly perfect will have their issues, and when left to fester, they’ll only get worse. No matter how much Sunday wishes to separate himself from his body, he is now stuck in reality and forced to address the problems he had hoped to leave behind once in the blissful dream. Forced awake after so long dreaming, it’s so much worse than before, and he is no better than any fearful little charmony dove

Have you ever seen a dove try to build a nest? It’s so pathetic you just feel bad for the stupid thing.

(Sunday has a lot of problems and at this point he has no choice but to get rehabilitated by the humans around him like the neglected rescue bird he is)

    Summary

"I don't like it," Flins murmured to the apha's skin.

    "Hmm?"

"Not being able to smell you,"  he wanted to curl his fingers into a fist to overcome the sudden rush of embarrassment, but he didn't. Nonchalant in nature, he spoke like it was natural for him to disclose his feelings this easily. "I like your scent.”

"I know." A small purr rumbled in the alpha's chest, his hand on Flins's hair didn't stop combing it.

Did he, really? Was Flins that futile in his endeavor to sweep every emotion under the rug?

Flins didn't make any requests of him. He never tried to ask anything of him. He took whatever Varka gave him and learned to be content with it. And to be fair, Varka gave him everything.

    Except for one thing.

    --

Flins is in love, and he wants that mating bite on his neck. But all he does is wonder if Varka feels the same about him as he touches the fae's skin in the most indecent way every time he comes back to him.

    Summary

“Grandmaster Varka,” Flins finally says, shattering the strange silence between the two. Now Varka has no choice but to meet his eyes, and- Archons, he swears he can see his own reflection in those dead golden pools. “You never returned to the Final Night Cemetery.”

    There’s a beat. Then- “What?”

[flins following fae courting traditions that no longer exist and confusing the FUCK out of varka for like a month]

    Summary

When Varka heads north through the dangerous mists to slay the Hunt’s Dearg Ruadhri, he’s accompanied by a lamp with azure flame, lent to him by Flins, a ‘grave keeper’ he met when paying respects to the Lightkeepers’ fallen. This lamp may be more than it appears…

Varka carefully sets the lamp back on the table. “I’m going to need a belt and a strap to carry you with me. I hope the general goods store has the stock.” Standing, he heads to the bathroom, calling back. “Let me just wash up and then we can go, beautiful.” The door closes.
    Lamp: …
Lamp: (I didn’t know he was a lunatic.)
Lamp: (…He can’t have guessed, could he?)
