Summary
When the Gods fell millennia ago, Phainon had fallen with them.
Now he is the last. A remnant of times long ago, a fragment of divinity cast to the mortal world and tied to the great God-Kings of Sak-Kahn-Ko. He is theirs to do as they please; to serve each father and son and son of his son, unageing, undying, unchanging. He does not see the sun rise each day. He does not see it set.
Come a springtime he can only hear in the sigh of the wind, the God-King he serves has guests to visit. Many guests, from all corners of the mapped world, there to pledge allegiance to Sak-Kahn-Ko, to bow to the one great enough to own a God.
But one guest is strange. He does not look to Phainon’s humiliation with glee or envy or pride. He does not look at all.
Mydeimos of Castrum Kremnos looks, instead, to the God-King he must bow to; and he looks with anger, at the one who owns the divine. He looks with rage.

Summary
Phainon - A grim reaper who has done his job without error or flaw for many centuries! He loves his job!
Mydeimos - A 33 year old man who was supposed to live until he was 93, is ‘murdered’ accidentally by Phainon and now must grapple with the fact he died 60 years early, due to an idiot.
And that's all there is to it.

“You had- let me get this straight, a one-night stand with a Lord Ravager,” Castorice repeated, bafflement coating her tone. “You slept with a Lord Ravager. You were in his bed.”
“Please stop saying it like that,” Mydei sighed deeply through his nose, trying not to let panic overwhelm him. “It wasn’t anything serious- it was just a quick fuck. Months ago.”
“Mydeimos, he’s out there looking for you. Clearly, he didn’t see it as just a quick fuck. Oh my Aeons. Why did you sleep with an Emanator of Destruction?”
“Oh, I just wanted to try something new,” he said, staring at her in disbelief. “Obviously, I didn’t know that’s what he was!”
“How did you not know?!” She shrieked.
Or, Mydeimos, Galaxy Ranger, accidentally sleeps with one of Nanook’s Lord Ravagers. Now he won’t leave him alone.

Summary
There were lots of other things that made it difficult to imagine living anywhere else. Precious photos and memorabilia. His favourite snacks stocking the pantry and fridge. The plants he had affectionately named and nurtured.
The locking mechanism on the front doors.
He had permission to leave today, so the exterior door scanned the microchip in his choker and the red light flashed green with the whir of the locking system. It opened now and would open when he returned but if he attempted to leave again afterwards then the doors would remain locked.
When Mydeimos is a shining rockstar upon the stage, capturing the hearts of millions, someone has to protect him from the depraved ingrates that flock to him just the same.
It’s a role Phainon claims for himself, and Mydei always rewards him for a job well done.
