Bookmarker's Notes
Part two in a canon AU series that pairs up Piccolo with Chi-chi and Goku with Bulma (and endgames a few other pairings). Each story in the series can be read as a standalone, and since this is my favorite one, I'm including it here.
I've shipped Goku and Bulma since day one and this story does a great job of highlighting the connection and chemistry these two have always had. The author is also not afraid to discuss Goku's flaws (without resorting to the tired "Goku is a bad father and husband" trope), and I find their take on Vegeta very canon-accurate.
Takes place after the Cell Saga. Warnings for canon-typical violence and attempted sexual assault.

Bookmarker's Notes
A post-anime Knives redemption fic that stands head and shoulders above the pack, mostly because of how deftly it handles Knives and his characterization, using the manga backstory to add a badly-needed humanizing (heh) element to his anime incarnation. Meryl also shines here for her compassion, courage, and vulnerability (plus a low tolerance for Knives's crap doesn't hurt). She's probably one of my favorite versions of Meryl ever. I feel it also merits mention that the author does a good job of showing how Vash has moved past his old, simplistic views of pacifism, while still being every bit the Vash we all know and love. He's exactly how I'd imagine Vash to be if the anime had had a continuation.
This remains one of the most life-affirming and hopeful stories I've ever read, in any media, and I always find myself returning to it.
Warnings for some canon-typical violence and a mention of child sexual abuse.

Bookmarker's Notes
Grabs you from the very first paragraph and doesn't let go until the amazing, beautiful, eucatastrophic last chapter. Over twenty years on, this is still one of the most epic conclusions to the Dragonball story.
Post-Majin Buu Saga, non-compliant with Super or anything that comes after Z (since that didn't exist yet). Warnings for canon-typical violence and sexual assault.

This is part two in a three-part series that crosses over Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and Final Fantasy VII. It's Vash introspection with really lovely writing, to the point that I revisit it often. Meryl is wonderfully written, as well!

Captures a very sweet moment between Athena and the Twisted Samurai. ❤ The writing is so in character that I could actually picture this happening in the game.

Rewrite of the last two books--feels very canon but it's far better than the canon ending. I really love what it did for Tobias and Ax!

I love how realistically the Black family is portrayed. Really nails what it would be like to be an older sibling escaping a dysfunctional situation. The descriptions of Seattle are on point.

Reads like OG Twilight while fixing everything that was wrong with Twilight (and I mean EVERYTHING). I have reread this several times, to the point I consider it the canon ending.

Summary
"... Because seeing Bella, no matter what the circumstances, was always a good thing. Even as she was then, all hollowed out and pale, like a ghost. She was shockingly thin, with dark bags under her eyes framed by flat, dark hair hanging limply on the sides of her face. Her eyes, which had once shone with delight and flashed with intuition, now stood as two decaying statues of an old, forgotten monument, crumbling against gravity and the wars which left their empire to rot.
Her face lit dimly with a spark of enthusiasm, and the edges of her mouth twitched up in a poor mockery of her old grin.
“Hey, Jacob!” Her smile widened and became more familiar.
I felt something click into place, like a key in a lock
I’d forgotten how easy it was to love Bella Swan."
I took issue with how smeyer treated my boy, as many of us have, and I took it upon myself to re-write the series from Jacob's POV and fix some of the problems I had. This is basically a head canon of how I would write twilight, were I ever given such a job - which I would like to clarify; nobody asked for this. JacobxBella AU where Jake imprints but it's sorta... different? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just incredibly sweet and so fun to read. Reads kind of like the "Midnight Sun" version of New Moon, but with a Jacob/Bella endgame. Also handles Leah and the Quileute mythos/culture so much better than canon did.

The prose is gorgeous, the love story so well drawn. And has the best Sam characterization I've ever read. I've reread it several times. In the vast ocean of SPN fanfiction, it's the crown jewel.

Eleutherophobia: n., Greek, the fear of freedom
Tom survived Rachel's assassination attempt; the yeerk in his head did not. Now he's left dealing with his overprotective but traumatized parents, a little brother battling survivor guilt in a world that thinks he's a superhero, his terrifyingly awesome ex-neighbor determined to change the world, the girl from high school who he loved enough to follow to a Sharing meeting, and a whole bunch of other former hosts who think that just because a yeerk wearing his body once led a revolution Tom actually knows what he's talking about half the time.

Bookmarker's Notes
Doesn't bill itself as a "fix it" but for me it fixes a lot of issues I had with the original ending, to the point it's canon to me now, and brings so much depth and sensitivity to a character we didn't ever really get to know in the books. And it does all this while being every bit as dark as the OG series--nothing about it feels indulgent, out of place, or contrived. A masterwork.
