“You know, this isn’t how I saw this going between us,” Tony remarked, gesturing in the space that separated them.
Because this was Peter, Tony didn’t get the smart-assed reply he expected or the offended one that he probably deserved. What he got was much worse: Peter smiled and planted a kiss on Tony’s bare, wet hip—the injured one—just above the bandages.
This was dangerous. He and Peter were sliding toward something… and it scared the hell out of Tony. And yet, backing down just wasn’t him.
“Planning to kiss it better?” Tony croaked.
“If you like,” Peter replied, meeting his eyes steadily.
If I’m going to walk on thin ice, might as well dance.
Tony nodded.
Or: In which Peter taking what he wants turns out to be the same as giving Tony what he needs.
(Set in a halcyon, canon-divergent timeline world where (almost) everything is beautiful and (nearly) nothing hurts: EG/IW didn’t happen, Bucky came home to Steve after CA:WS, CA:CW *wasn’t,* and Peter was recruited for the Avengers and mentored by Tony. So yeah, a bucolic age of Avengers!Family. Because we all need warm fuzzies right now, yes?)
