Summary
After a failed rescue during the events of Toy Story 2, Woody and Jessie find themselves stuck in an airport in Wyoming. They’ve lost Al but now they have to find a way back home to Andy. Jessie notices an open school bag and decides to risk it. Little do they know, Sid is visiting his aunt for a few weeks. They're almost home, but can they both make it home in one whole piece? Or will Jessie suffer from Woody's hubris-filled attempt at justice he performed two years prior?

"I think the lesson is about kindness, being nice to strangers even when those strangers weren't very nice to you. Even if they hurt you"
It's true you should be kind to others, especially strangers. But being kind to others when they hurt you sounds like something a sacrificial lamb would say. Kindness and selfishness both have a place in this world. David is one who overuses the former without realizing the value in the latter. To me it sounds like the lesson in the forest didn't quite stick.
In other words: I challenge David's optimistic worldview because sometimes being "the bigger person" is a tough ass pill to swallow and can be really hard to do even when it's the more respectable option.

Little does he know, after meeting America's greatest supe, The Homelander, he's about to get way more than what he originally bargained for.

Okay so to preface this: I LOVE THIS FIC. DO NOT let my very tiny criticisms distract u from how well-crafted this fic is. It scratches a certain part of my brain that listens way too hard to the producer's commentary of what Toy Story was going to be vs. What it came out as. I'm just a yapper with a Toy Story fixation.
I love the descriptions of each toy's disassembly in this fic. There was clearly some research done in how these toys would be constructed and the morbid descriptions of them being taken apart only adds to the horror of this fic. Woody's motivations are on-par and the author did a great job showing how deep he is in his delusion, the comparisons between "Calvin & Hobbes" and Christoper Robin were also a nice touch. Sid is in here which is always nice. The ending was uplifting despite the horrors which was also nice.
My only two criticisms of this fic is the dialogue sometimes felt a bit flat and repetitive. Jessie and the Army men had the best dialogue. There were also some choices regarding the toys strength and ability to carry certain things that I disagreed with but let slide because "it's written well so I'll allow it"
One thing I am curious about that the fic didn't really go over was if Woody was like physically broken or mentally broken. It's sort of implied that he's not himself somehow but never really touched on which is neither a criticism or praise just something I'm curious about.
Overall, it's a good read!
