“You turning on Tony?” Bucky asks, from behind them.

“Uh, no,” Peter says, scoffing, as if that could ever be possible. He looks back at Bucky and sees him making a turkey sandwich at the counter. “Actually, the opposite, I want to get in on—if there is a network of tunnels—”

“A network of tunnels?” Sam asks, raising his eyebrows.

Peter stutters. “I mean, like, that’s not the way to describe it, that’s just how I’m imagining it,” he says.

“I… am not being challenged in the right ways here,” Harley says slowly, carefully. He’s not really lying, this way. He is being fucking challenged, alright, but not by school. Not by the things that should challenge him.

“Then move here,” Tony says, and Harley’s heart drops straight into his feet.

    Summary

It’s funny, almost. Jud had done everything right. Everything he could. Stood against Wicks and his wickedness. Tried to protect his flock. Believed in the best in everyone, in all of them, when they gave him every reason to doubt. Helped the detective and helped the chief and laid bare every part of himself that he wanted to hide away, to keep safe in the dark. Helped find a killer, and another killer, and forgave them both. Forgave everything.

Did everything right. Did everything he was supposed to, and more. Everything he possibly could have. And he still lost it, the thing that meant the world to him, despite all that.

It shouldn’t surprise him, though. He knows better than anyone that God has a sense of humor.

Or: A slight divergence from the movie’s ending in which Jud does everything right, and still loses everything. Almost.

    Summary

Months after the death of Monsignor Wicks, Detective Blanc and Father Jud begin to meet occasionally for unassuming cups of coffee, encounters that gradually cease to be mere gestures of courtesy or attempts to soothe unresolved matters. An unexpected closeness takes hold, advancing far beyond what either of them had deemed necessary, or prudent.

What begins as an improbable friendship soon transforms into something deeper and more unsettling. Feelings emerge with growing intensity, demanding a courage neither man was prepared to summon. For Jud, in particular, the conflict is nearly unbearable: love is a human impulse, yet allowing himself to feel it collides directly with the vows, the faith, and the life he has chosen to uphold.

    Summary

Four months after the Good Friday Murders, Jud finds himself excommunicated with no where to go.

Enter Benoit Blanc, who already has a soft spot for his killer priest and a spare bedroom.

What's begun as an unlikely friendship/Holmes-Watsonship has the chance to become something more away from the restrictions of the church and the prying eyes of police, lawyers, and wannabe influencers. And so too does Jud have the chance to build something new for himself and discover who he can be if not a priest.
