Days when he's not even sure he's alive, because he can't move, he can't see, and all he can hear is his own goddamn breathing, and the pipes leaking, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip onto the marble floor.

Jason Todd was never spirited away by Talia after being dumped in the Lazarus Pit. Talia was unable to get him away in time, and while Ra's feared what Jason would turn into, he knew he needed to take the opportunity to mold the Lazarus-mad boy into a tool worthy of the League of Assassins. Thankfully, the boy took to the direction like a duck to water, and became exactly the tool that Ra's needed. When Talia took her son—his grandson and carefully crafted heir—Ra's turned to the next best option.

"Don’t you see it?!” His eyes snapped up, wide, bloodshot. He yanked his arm up, thrusting it toward Bruce’s face as if demanding he look. “They’re moving — they’re right there, you have to see it!”
Bruce caught the arm mid-shove, ignoring the streak of blood that smeared across the edge of his cowl. His gauntleted fingers locked down around Jason’s trembling forearm, pressing hard over the gouges as if to pin the hallucinations in place. His touch was firm, grounding, unyielding.
“I don’t see it,” Bruce said. The words were sharp, clipped, deliberately cutting through the chaos. “Because it isn’t real.”

And sure, Dick gets it. Everybody grieves and processes their trauma differently. Hell, Dick is the poster child for the 'plaster it over and forget about it' method. But Jason's processing method is actually traumatizing half the family.

They didn’t know Hood was there until Nightwing had snuck through one of the windows and saw him having a tense conversation with the traffickers who ran operations there, and then one of them- the leader, probably- had taken a threatening step forward.
Hood had remedied that by shooting him in the face, and from there all hell had broken loose. Nightwing dropped down- enemy of my enemy, and also maybe Hood would kill less of them if a Bat was there (he did not) and assisted, but one of the traffickers, by the end, had managed to set up a bomb with non-insubstantial amounts of C4. So then the warehouse had been a smoking wreck. Hood had taken the brunt of it, slamming hard into a wall, mask letting out a sharp crack, and slumping, unconscious.
And- well, is Dick supposed to just leave him there?

Jason's little apartment isn't much.
It's small, like most apartments in the area are. Not the large apartment complexes in the gentrified neighborhoods, or the run-down tenament buildings in the East End. Not the brownstone style apartments of the older districts.
Like most apartments in Chelsea, Jason only has three neighboring units. It's a small two bed, one bath with an open living/dining room, and attached kitchen. It's practically an efficiency, with the bedrooms being slightly larger than postage stamps.

When he was a kid, there were these stupid little stuffed toy things that everybody at school tried to collect. 'Pound Puppies', just these… little stuffed dogs, that had these big sad eyes, and sewn on mouths.
Even Jason had one. A gray, short-earred, pug-tailed one, missing an eye, although that probably had more to do with wherever the hell Willis got the damn thing. For lack of anything better, he'd named it Benji, because he had no idea what the hell else to name it.

Sometimes, Jason looks in the mirror and he can’t seem to see himself. His hair is too dark, too light, eyes too green, too tired. He’s taller and stronger and colder and he looks nothing like the child he once was. It’s only fair, he supposes, to change as he grows up. Everyone does. He couldn’t stay 15 forever.
Except he could’ve. He wasn’t supposed to come back, wasn’t supposed to crawl out of his grave with dirt beneath his fingers and in his hair and eyes and lungs and—
He wasn’t supposed to come back. Jason Todd was supposed to stay 15 forever, alive only in memories that wouldn’t grow older, though the people carrying them would. His clothes would be folded up and packed away into cardboard boxes, his photographs would grow dust and the flowers on his grave would wilt and disappear.
He was supposed to be forgotten.

He dug in his pocket for the signal-blocking case with his free hand. They could track the comm when it was on, if they wanted to. He didn't like to take any chances when he wasn't fine with being found.
Funny, when now he was just hoping they'd care enough to try.

Summary
Tim’s spleen wasn't the only thing he had lost in the desert that night.
The Widower left him with an injury that had forever altered his life, but Tim had adjusted. He was fine, great even. His only worry was how his family would react when he eventually found Bruce and went back to Gotham.
But to his surprise (and relief), they never even mentioned it. They carried on as if everything was normal, and that's what Tim had wanted. At least, he thought it was.
Until an incident in the field reveals a secret Tim didn't even know was a secret, and now he is forced to deal with all the emotional blowback he thought he had avoided.
Or,
Tim loses a leg in the desert. He really thought his family had noticed.

“It’s just big enough for a person, don’t you think?”
Ice doused over his head, locking his joints into an awkward perch. Purple strolled beside him, the movement rustling his hair as the Joker came to stand in front of him. With a sigh, as if their reunion has been long awaited and he just can’t get enough of it, the clown squatted down in front of him, leant back on his heels and chin pillowed in his hands.
“About the size you were when we last had our fun.”
The Fear toxin. It got him.
Jason gets dosed with fear toxin and instead of telling anyone, he tries to get through a mandatory Bruce post-patrol pat down without letting anything slip. Might eventually turn this into a whole whump collection, but we'll see.
