“No,” Eloise corrected, grinning like the Cheshire cat, it brilliantly reflecting back through the screen. “It’s not just a character builder. It’s a sexual exploration simulator. That” she gestured dramatically “...is you, but with options. Fantasies. Boundaries. Agency.”
Penelope blinked. “So it’s like… The Sims. But naked. And emotionally risky?”
“Exactly.” Eloise winked. “Now go. Make her do something you’d never dare to do. Then tell me everything over wine.”

Eddie swipes the wand beneath his eye, fast and mostly smooth. He leans back from the mirror, assessing his reflection, and smudges lightly at the ink.
“One down,” he says, mostly to himself. Steve doesn’t say anything.
He’s thinking about girls at their bathroom mirrors and bedroom vanities. Dates or one night stands or whoever else, messing with their hair and poking at their lipstick and making faces. Fixing whatever Steve had made a mess of the night before.

He pulls his hands from behind his back with a flourish. It’s a VHS in a plain white case, the words Satanic Ritual: DO NOT WATCH!! scribbled in sharpie on the front cover in Eddie’s spiky script.
Holy shit. Steve can’t believe this thing survived.
“Jesus,” he snorts, tracing the title with his pointer finger. Eddie would name their sex tape something totally insane. “Satanic ritual. It’s like you were trying to provoke the pitchfork people.”
“I’m sorry, would you have preferred if I wrote, like, ‘super horny homosexual hour’ on the cover instead?”
“Yes.” Steve deadpans. “Yes, I would.”

Rumor has it that whenever any one of the seven or so gremlins that Steve has magnanimously decided to adopt sleep over at his ridiculously large and empty house, he’ll get up extra early in the morning and pack them all lunches in brown paper bags. He’ll make them breakfast, too, and drop them off at school with a ruffle of their hair, a slap on their shoulder, or a pep-talk, depending on the kid.
Not that Eddie Munson, of all people, would know anything about it.It's October and Steve starts packing Eddie lunches for work. Eddie doesn't know what to do about it.

The only thing I can say is that with every chapter, every new addition to this universe - It just gets better and better, it has that warm feeling you get in your chest when you are next to a bonfire surrounded by nature and silence where you can truly appreciate the beauty of the world!! I truly love it!!
