Summary
Kim Seokjin kept fighting, but not because of any misplaced nationalism. There were bunkers full of old men in boardrooms who would like to think that men like Kim Seokjin kept fighting to keep them safe. But Kim Seokjin would rather die in a Jaeger, with his boots on, in a screaming pile of metal and rotted radiation, than cowering in a reinforced hole in the ground. He’d spent too long in a hole in the ground.
Life wasn’t so much about living, now. Life was about how you chose to die. Kim Seokjin had chosen his fate.
Life was about keeping Jungkook alive.

The latter part being a relatively new revelation, one that Seokjin hasn’t quite had the guts to talk about yet. It’s been in the air for a while though, percolating, evolving, and mutating until it’s reached its final form. It’s Love. Caps lock, LOVE. Terrifying that it’s Jeon Jungkook, maknae with the huge heart who’s managed to make Seokjin fall that hard.
The same man who’s trying to now get him into a headlock against the wall.
(He'll tell him about the Love thing eventually).

Summary
Seokjin's shoulders have always felt safe to Jungkook.
What that doesn’t entirely explain is why being tucked in behind Seokjin’s shoulders progressed to not just feeling safe and good, making Jungkook glow inside, but at some point, started to just feel right.
