Summary
For an instance, he is ten and on his knees with the pavement digging into his denim pants, then he is fourteen and Batman is laughing at his jokes. He is seventeen and Talia Al Ghul's hands are in his hair, and he knows that there is something wrong about the whole thing but in that moment, Jason needs only one thing more than to be avenged. It is to be loved.

“I said it’s hot.” Dick chided playfully from across the counter. “Be careful or I’m taking the plate away if you can’t wait.”
It was a joke.
Dick hadn’t meant for Jason to freeze. For him to still so harshly and his expression to fall. The boy’s hands, that had been picking at the crust to nibble on the crumbs while it cooled down, paused before Jason snatched them back, gripping the base of the chair with white knuckles.
