Atsushi lets out a dry laugh, trying to ease the tension in the air. "I can guarantee you, I won't hold back either. Still, it doesn't hurt to be friendly while we still can. No need to be so prickly." He raises his arms in a defensive gesture.

Akutagawa knows that his chances of winning the 74th Hunger Games as a scrawny, malnourished Tribute from District 12 are slim to none. Summary
Not to sound like a jealous bitch, but why are Dazai and Chuuya just ticking every box in his list of fanfic troupes that Atsushi wants for himself and Akutagawa? Childhood friends? Check. Roommates? Check. Enemies to friends to… lovers? Check? Maybe. He is not entirely sure about that, but from what he can see, they are basically a slow burn, awkward flirting, idiots in love, mutual pining, hurt/comfort, angst with a happy ending, and 250k words of ongoing fanfic.
Or Nakajima Atsushi plays matchmaker for Dazai-sensei and Chuuya-sensei while trying to juggle his crush on his co-worker and rival, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke.

His breath tickled Atsushi’s skin and the detective made another mental note how it didn’t really bother him at all. He smelled of liquor, but it wasn’t that off-putting.
“Yeah, okay. Want to sit down for a minute?”
[Set after saving the world from Amenogozen. Atsushi has trouble falling asleep; he goes out in the middle of the night to look for some snacks, and crashes into a drunk Akutagawa. They talk, they bond. Followed by tooth-rotting fluff (you’ve been warned).]
