Summary
“What happened to a united front?” She asked, getting emotional. It wasn’t her fault she was emotional right now, she had an insane amount of hormones running through her body.
“You tell me.” Buck finally turned and looked at her. “You never told me you were getting so close to them again. I had no idea you were talking to them frequently enough to be able to invite them out, let alone that they would actually agree. You told me when you first got here not to tell them you were here, and you have never asked anything about our relationship since then.”
“What’s there to tell?” Maddie huffed, getting to her feet and walking over to him. “Seriously, you accepted me so easily, why would they be any different?”
“What’s our motto?” Buck asked quietly.
“What’s that-”
“They aren’t bad people, just bad parents.” Buck said, cutting her off. “Or did you only ever say that for my benefit?”
“Buck.” Maddie said his name sadly. “Please.”
“No.” Buck said, shaking his head again. “No, and if that’s all you wanted to talk to me about you should go.”
OR
When Maddie tries to get Buck to agree to see their parents while she's pregnant, he says no.

Summary
“We brought something.” Margaret said as she got up and went to the living room, coming back with a bag of some kind. She got a box out, wiped a few tears away, before setting it reverently on the table. It was a wooden box a lot like Maddie had. Daniel’s name was carved on the top in an intricate pattern. “This was the box we made for him.” Buck just stared uncomprehendingly at it. The box on the table was Daniel’s baby box. The keepsake they made for their son. Something showing how much they loved him. Like they loved Maddie. Like they obviously didn’t love Buck.
“I don’t …” Buck cleared his throat and shook his head, trying to breathe so he wouldn’t cry.
“This? This is bullshit. You need to go.” Eddie stated, standing up and putting a firm hand on Buck’s shoulder. “You think the way to show Buck that you actually care about him as your son is to bring in the keepsake box you made for Daniel? When you openly admitted to never making one for him? Buck, go to the room.” Buck swallowed thickly and stood up, Eddie’s hand sliding from his shoulder to his back.
“I’m sorry.” Buck whispered, meeting Eddie’s eyes. Eddie’s face went soft.

So he had won, he returned, he smiled and joked and was sunshine and silliness, he was the person everyone needed him to be and it changed depending on who it was. He didn’t share the truth about how he was struggling with more than just the emotional toll of the last few months because that would strain the relationships he worked so hard to get back.
The thing that kept him awake at night alongside all his other worries was the realisation that this family that he held so dear that he had wanted so badly, no longer felt a permanent part of his life,
He didn’t trust it anymore
But no matter how many times he told himself he was happy and it was all ok, he couldn’t ignore the black pit inside of him that he was slowly drowning in that whispered you are
not wanted,
no one really cares,
you are unlovable,
you are exhausting.
Post law suit everything is getting back to normal .everyone has forgiven Buck and he is back where he belongs.
So why does he feel so broken?

Summary
“Uhm, Chief, I didn’t request light duty. I was told by my captain that, while I’m on blood thinners, I can’t be in the field. He said that decision came from the brass,” he explains slowly, more than a little hesitantly.
As the head of the department, shouldn’t these regulations be familiar? Why is she asking Buck about rules that are already in place? Isn’t understanding how things go like, Williams’ entire job?
The other end of the line is quiet for a long minute, only to be broken up by a thoughtful, “Huh. Interesting.”
-
Days before Buck is supposed to start as Fire Marshall, the Chief of the LAFD calls, questioning why he chose a temporary transfer to the Fire Marshall's office instead of coming back to active duty, and what she can do to help him get back to fighting shape.
Buck didn't request a transfer.
The options Chief William's brings up are even more interesting.

Summary
There is a a small list of things Buck’s allowed himself to do after realizing he’s into men and then specifically into his best friend. This list is comprised of: staring at Eddie’s hands, staring at Eddie’s eyes, imagining himself playing in Eddie’s hair, one small glance at Eddie’s ass a week. The last one is limited to once a week for only a few seconds because if he allowed himself to look any longer he’d never look away. It’s just- the perfect ass. Coming from a long muscular torso and slim waist moving to his-
Thighs. Eddie’s thighs.
Yes. Buck thinks about Eddie’s thighs often. But they’re not on his list so he’s not allowed to look. Hence the few second once a week glances at Eddie’s ass.
Or Buck is obsessed with Eddie’s thighs, Eddie notices and does something about it

Summary
Eddie's head snapped up. One of the SWAT officers was pointing at a portable monitor set up near the command vehicle—a live feed from the news broadcast still streaming from inside the school. The camera was shaky, the angle awkward, but it showed a hallway.
And there—*there*—was Buck.
Eddie's breath caught in his throat. Buck was in the middle of the corridor, and he was fighting. Not running, not hiding—*fighting*. Hand-to-hand combat with one of the shooters, brutal and desperate. Buck's face was streaked with blood, his shirt torn, but he was moving with the fierce determination of someone protecting something precious.
The camera zoomed in slightly, and Eddie could see it now—the way Buck had positioned himself. The storage closet door visible behind him. The way every move Buck made was calculated to keep the shooter away from that door, to use his body as a barrier.
"The boys," Eddie said, his voice hollow with realisation. "They're in that closet. That's where he hid them. He's—" Eddie's voice broke. "He's protecting them."
Or Buck is taking the boys to Christopher’s science Fayre when a school shooting starts. We see how Buck fights to keep his boys safe and how Eddie rushes to save themBookmarked by Miraculouslyreader

“Do you ever wonder what’s the point?” Buck asks, staring into his mug. He’s already regretting saying the words aloud, but he can’t bring himself to shut up tonight, clearly.
“Hm?” Bobby asks, and Buck pointedly does not look up.
“Everyone leaves in the end. I’ve never had a friend stick around. They all get bored eventually. What’s the point? Why do I keep trying?”
or, Buck finally reaches his breaking point. (If ABC won't let Buck crashout about Bobby, I will.)

But as their resentment towards his choice of suing the LAFD never wavers, he finds himself falling into a spiral of depression that could lead to severe consequences.
The Earth never stops spinning on its axis, and just as the sun rises and sets every day and the moon reflects its light, the universe never stops forcing Buck to deal with new and old traumas.
A visit from someone from Buck's past fundamentally changes the 118's views about their teammate, as old wounds are poked and left exposed, and everyone is forced to learn how to navigate their resentments and guilt.

He willingly plays the villain, letting Bobby, Maddie, and the crew believe he chose greed over loyalty, and exiles himself to Florida to help Christopher heal in secret. Summary
Theo sits happily on the couch eating animal crackers. “Pops says Ravi screams during scary movies.”
Ravi chokes on air. “How-”
Theo gasps. “He says one time you cried.”
Hen immediately loses it. Buck tries not to laugh and fails spectacularly. Ravi points accusingly at him. “You told him!”
“I swear to god I didn’t!” Buck says, raising his hands in defense.
Theo swings his legs cheerfully. “Pops said it was the dinosaur movie.”
Ravi buries his face in his hands while Chim nearly falls off the couch laughing. Buck watches Theo carefully after that. Everything he says, leaving Buck slightly unsettled. Theo acts and is talking like someone is really there. Not imaginary-friend energy. Not make-believe. Real conversations. And every time Theo wanders off to talk to “Pops,” he comes back calmer.
Happier.
Safe.
OR
Theo has a new imaginary friend and it’s slowly freaking Buck out.
