All Scout knew was that Sniper kissed him sometimes— hard, thorough kisses that left him breathless and stupid— and some other times, he sat close enough that their shoulders touched while talking about bullet wounds and the migratory patterns of birds Scout had never heard of.They’d fooled around, sure. Hands under shirts, mouths on necks... The one memorable afternoon in the back of Sniper’s van where Sniper had gotten a hand down the front of Scout's trousers and promptly forgot how his own lungs worked.
But they hadn’t— They hadn’t gone all the way. Not yet, at least.

Alternatively: Sniper and Scout are star gazing. Scout is determined to finally have sex with Sniper, outdoors.

But all his ego falls to pieces when he tears his ACL and must retire from the sport he so desperately loved. Searching for a hobby to occupy his mind, he meets Mick, the president of the college Chess Club. Suddenly, Jeremy has no idea why he had ever begun to think he knew what his life would be like.
