Summary
The girl whimpered in her sleep, curled in her brother's side. The boy's hands twitched, small bandages peppering his arms where the fire had gotten to him while trying to protect his sister. Shamrock was still unsure why he had saved them - his trip to Flevance had been meant for information only, to see if anything could be recovered from the destruction. He had almost passed them by; wouldn't have seen them at all if the girl hadn't whimpered, if her brother hadn't shushed her desperately, voice cracking as he begged her to stay awake for a while longer.
The moment his eyes fell on them, the boy jumped to his feet and almost toppled, a too small rock in his hands the only protection he had for himself and his sister.
They were small. Too small and weak, fragile. Delicate even, with their white marked skin and shivering bodies.
Broken, the doctor had said and Shamrock had wanted to snap at him in anger.
Or Shanks had a plan. His brother's children were not part of it. (They are now.)

Summary
Father had made Shanks bend but never break. Shamrock would not make the same mistakes. His younger brother would understand his place in the family, his mates would understand theirs. They would learn proper behavior, proper roles, proper devotion. It was, after all, for their own good.
Shamrock was patient. He was thorough. He was certain. He was not prepared for what they would make of him in return.

"Gol D. Ace you -"
"I invoke the Gallows Law."
Ace had missed the black vortex that flared to life on the scaffold, purple lightning blinding before a hooded figure appeared next to Sengoku on the scaffold out of nowhere. Something about his tone familiar in a way that Ace had no way of placing. Not at the moment. His words, on the other hand, made no sense. The fire logia didn't know what a Gallows Law could even be, but it was nothing good considering the way Gramps stiffened at his side, his eyes almost haunted. Even Sengoku froze and stopped his dumb monologue.
Even the battlefield settled, voices suddenly going quiet, scents flaring with confusion as everyone froze in this moment until the newcomer repeated again.
"I invoke the Gallows Law. Until it is either accepted or denied you are not to touch Gol D. Ace."
The moment Figarland Shamrock invokes an ancient law to save Ace from execution, everyone assumes he has nefarious purposes in mind. The truth, on the other hand, might be more complicated than anyone expects.

Summary
"Tell me about the other Holy Knights on Elbaph."
They needed the information, of course; ever since Sabo returned from Pangea Castle, he had come to realize how little they actually knew, how many assumptions they had made that proved to be far from the facts.
But, this interrogation was also an indulgence of a sort; the Holy Knights had attacked Luffy after all, and although his brother had managed to deal with them, Sabo needed to know more, needed to put shapes and names to the threat had moved against his little brother. Managing to capture Figarland Shamrock when they had set Mariejois ablaze had been a win he had not expected, a success he was still applauding himself for.
However, his captive remained stubbornly silent, red eyes looking at him with fury.
The attack on the Holy Land allows Sabo to capture Shamrock. What follows is a game of obtaining information that leaves both of them in a position of vulnerability they had not expected.
