Summary
Ashton doesn’t deserve good things. Ashton was destined to die, bleeding out on some dirty concrete on their side of town. Thus, as Ashton slowly loses consciousness on some pristine sidewalk in some gated community, he can’t help but think even that’s more than they deserve.
What Ashton does NOT deserve, under any circumstances, is for their close friend to drag them away to find help, stumble across an older woman, be nursed back to life at her farm, and lay low there with her and her granddaughter.
If only said granddaughter would stop begging to differ.(Or: A Modern Magic AU that explores what would’ve happened if Ashton was indebted to a certain Morrigan Calloway, instead of Jiana Hexum)

In a high school nestled inside the enormous city of Zadash lies a clique of infamous teachers. Known as the Mighty Nein, they’ve brought the school to new reaches. Everything from their arts, the academics, and their sports reign top notch, and that success is highly attributed to this group of eight. Sol High School is a beacon of hope and learning all schools should try to achieve. Thus, headstrong Essek Theylss should be over the moon that his transfer will bring him there all the way from gloomy Rosohna. If only the Mighty Nein were known just for their successful teaching habits, and not for the fact they’re labeled the biggest assholes in Wildemount. Truthfully, all Essek wants to do anyways is his job and escape all the troubles that plagues him in the Dynasty. That’s not an unreasonable request, right?
