Witchers give gifts to earn a friendship, or to start a courtship. That, Jaskier doesn't know. But, when the witchers he crosses path with give him gifts and start to get all friendly on him, he doesn't question it so much. He is not completely stupid, he saw the pattern, after some times.
Until Geralt apparently realizes Jaskier is not only his bard anymore, and fears to be too late for more.
Friendships are made, Family is found.

Summary
"You see, one of my pets has gone and injured itself," the lord tells him, staring from across the food-laden table Jaskier had been forced to sit at no more than five minutes prior. "I'd thought you were the best man to get it back in proper working order."
"I'm not much of a healer, let alone a zoologist," Jaskier says, slow and uncertain.
Strangely, his captor only seems to agree with him. "No," he says, head cocking to the side as he considers Jaskier, a strange smile on his face. "—but you are an expert on witchers."
"On witchers...?" Jaskier echoes, before the meaning behind those words hit him. His eyes widen.
Was this man saying he owned a pet witcher?
Disgust curls low in Jaskier's gut, and it takes everything in him not to sneer in the bastard's face.
Guess he won't be escaping any time soon, then.
(Or, Jaskier gets kidnapped to nurse a 'pet' witcher back to health, and ends up getting far more attached than he means to. The Cats are heavily based on WhoopsOK's Songbird Cats, but they don't appear until later in the story.)Bookmarked by Nickel_9

The man sighs heavily. "I guess you're right." He turns back to Aiden, bright smile back in place. "My apologies, dear witcher, it seems I've forgotten my manners." He offers Aiden his hand to shake with a flourish. "I am the bard Jaskier, graduate of Oxenfurt and Master of the Seven Liberal Arts.
What.
Aiden forces himself to take his hand in a firm shake despite the shock that's numbing his limbs. "Aiden," he says, flashing his teeth in a smile. "You're the Toss a Coin bard, right?" Aiden says, like Lambert didn't spend his whole winter bullying Geralt into agreeing to a late spring meet-up and then ditched Aiden for it specifically for the chance that the bard standing in front of Aiden right now would be there.
Sweet Melitele, Lambert is going to hate him when they meet back up next week. This is amazing.
Or: Aiden meets Jaskier when he least expect it. He promptly decides that if anything ever happened to him, he would kill everyone in this town and then himself. Which would be a shame, considering that this strange town has been so unexpectedly kind to him.

Summary
When Geralt first comes across the mansion, he comes in because the nearest town is still hours away and he knows Roach is not going to make it that far without rest. That is when he meets Julian - the only resident of the truly enormous estate that seems to have everything one might dream of within its walls.
When Geralt returns the second time, he tells himself that it’s only because he wants to thank Julian for his hospitality and help, and not because he wants to see him again, feel the warmth of his fingers against his skin.
And when he returns again after that, he learns that both the mansion and his own heart may not be as simple as they seem.
